  Modern, spacious, great location, good value

  I loved staying at this hotel for many reasons. It was close to where we had to be every day - the Mix C mall, where m daughter was skating at their olympic size skating rink. Overall the location is great, you get a great view with light up tall buildings every night, there are small parks, cafes and shopping malls around. There is a nice fitness club in the same building (different entrance), as well as a bank and a small convenience store. The hospitality was beyond my imagination. We arrived late, the check in was the quickest I've ever had, and when we got in the room, there was a fruit plate and a box of freshly baked cookies (marked as gift) waiting for us. The room was huge, with big panoramic window, very big bath, big bed - I did not expect that in China. Great set of toiletries, we got loofah sponge, bath salt and a very cool folding hairbrush that I now carry with me when I travel. We were very comfortable there. The room is modern, yet cozy. Everything in the hotel smells good, they have a good aromatherapy consultant or whatever, maybe. The room also has a small flower pot with real plant, an aromatherapy diffuser with rattan sticks, there's even a hairspray bottle. The bathrobes are the best I've ever had in a hotel: they are silky and smooth on the outside, lined with soft towel fabric on the inside, you get a smaller robe and a bigger robe, large enough for a tall European person (also rare in China), and soft slippers, different sizes, they larger brown slippers and smaller white, AND small blue slippers for a kid, so my daughter was thrilled and felt special. There is a restaurant, and it was OK, although we preferred getting food at the mall, it was much better there. The breakfast was ok, but next time I'd choose the "no breakfast" option, I don't feel the breakfast buffet meets the hotel standards and is worth the price. They didn't have milk, instead it was a strange tasting milky beverage, terrible coffee, a small selection of fruit, the dessert was not very edible, some of the food was too spicy for us to eat, and it was VERY cold in there, the air conditioner was just too much, many people sat in warm jackets and most of the restaurant staff doesn't speak English. We ordered room service once and it was also not meeting our expectations. Yet there are many great places to get food very nearby, so not a big problem. One more problem is the elevators. The building has many elevators, but only two of them take you to hotel rooms, and that's just not enough. Spent too much time waiting for the elevators, and sometimes they were overcrowded, and sometimes my room card didn't work fast enough to select the floor, so the lift would skip our floor; it was probably the only annoying thing about the hotel I wish they could fix. Everything else was just perfect and I'll be happy to stay there again.

  US Citizens, avoid this hotel

  This hotel has posted their intention to punish guests who are US citizens by charging them 25%more than others. Please see the image attached. You may wish to stay in another hotel until they discontinue this policy.

  Do not stay in this Hotel if you are a US Citizen

  This hotel is advertising a 25% Tax on US Citizens due to the trade issues with the USA. A sign seen in this review is posted in the Lobby. This Hotel is located in Shenzhen China. Please see attached image

  Excellent hotel, but can be challenging without Chinese

  We, a young professional gay couple in our 30s, visited Shenzhen in early January and stayed at the Modern Classic for three nights over a weekend, and truly enjoyed our excellent stay. The hotel was very chic, modern, comfortable, and very international/grand looking, a true five-star, at a slight discount (about 25%) from comparable Western brand hotels. However one caveat, both of us have some very basic knowledge of Chinese/Mandarin, without which the stay would have been challenging, as most staff spoke very little English, and most signage were in Chinese only. The hotel seems to cater to wealthy domestic travellers rather than foreign tourists. ROOM: We stayed in a room on the Digital, which happens to be the top floor. The room was true to the photos on the website, uber futuristic looking, very chic, very thoughtfully decorated. It was a very spacious room, large enough to entertain a few guests, with open concept bathroom area, and a round bathtub in the living room area. While the room looks futuristic, I did not notice any amenities that were exceptional high-tech. Being on the top floor our room had a nice view of the nearby highend shopping malls/commercial buildings. The wifi in the room worked well. The king size bed was comfortable. Overall, the room was comfortable, luxurious feeling space. The complimentary snacks/fruit and mini-bar was a nice touch LOCATION Situated just north of the border of Hong Kong (we could see Hong Kong from our hotel room) in Luohu district, it is quite conveniently located. A number of subway stops on three different lines are within walking distance. There are a few up-scale/western looking shopping centres and lots of nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity. There are also plenty of more economical/local dining options just a few minute walk away, as there are a fair bit of residential buildings nearby. The super busy Dongmen shopping area (mostly locals) and the shopping area next to the Luohu crossing (mostly tourist traps) are both about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Service/Facilities The public area of the hotel (lobby, hallway) were all quite nicely decorated. The lobby was super modern. Front-desk staff were friendly, though as noted spoke very little English. Check-in and check-out were both efficient. Housekeeping staff were diligent and accommodating (of our night-owl schedule). The buffet breakfast was a bit haphazard, however, and for some reason, only one came with the room cost even though we clearly indicated two guests.

  A very romantic hotel which suitable for couple to stay.

  This Hotel is just opposite The MixC Shopping Mall. A very classic hotel got many different theme of room on each level to choose from. Very spacious in room and mini bar are free to consume daily. I was staying in a Digital Room which lightning really romantic for a couple to enjoy. Could advise for man intend to propose for marriage to your girl booking in this Hotel.
