Animal cruelty - starving puppies eating one anotherIf you love animals PLEASE do not stay here, this was one of the most traumatic things I have ever witnessed. Stayed here two nights before an Acacia trip as this was where the tour departed from. However, I would not recommend anyone or Acacia to support this lodge. As stated in other reviews the dogs here are not cared for at all. Covered in flees, ticks, barely fed any food and are not neutered. These dogs have litter after litter of puppies that are left out in the freezing cold at night with no food and barely any water. The puppies that were there when I stayed were clearly old enough to be on solids but were not given any food at all during the whole two days I was there (I know as I spent all my time with them) and the mother was thrown one morning only what could be described as a sheep stomach or something of the sort. These puppies are starving and left in the daily heat and unfortunately this resulted in the death of one puppy. This puppy was in amongst the bushes out of sight but the smell was revolting and flies everywhere. To understand how hungry these poor puppies are, they started to eat the dead puppy!!!! Of course I straight away informed Andrew - who I was told was in charge and he simply laughed at me and carried on doing his paper work. I cannot believe this horrible man, I clearly showed my distress and anger at the situation but he refused to do anything about it, and instead our tour guide (nothing to do with MoAfrika) had to dispose of the poor little puppy. On top of this there is a black female dog there who is obviously very scared of people especially men. I asked another worker why this was the case, and was told that Andrew had beaten the dog for once entering inside the property. On another occasion the male dog (father of the puppies) growled at the puppies for getting to close to him and Andrew repeatedly laughed and said 'go on eat them' to the dog. I repeatedly told him to not act in such a way, but he couldn't have cared less. This man is appalling and has no kindness in his heart for any animal. He should not be allowed to run this place when the owner is away I will be contacting the manager of MoAfrika directly, as well as Acacia to discourage them from using this lodge. I encourage the lodge to dismiss Andrew who I can only describe as an animal abuser and to take responsibility of your animals by taking them to the vets and GETTING THEM NEUTERED!!!! Ohhh... and if you were still considering staying at this lodge consider that: - There were ants everywhere in the room, including on the bed - Barely everything on the menu was out of stock and you would easily wait up to an hour for some fries, but you have no other choice as there is nothing else near by! - The door from the bathroom to the outside would not lock as they had 'lost the key' which did not make me feel very safe when staying on my own.
