Nice but pricyOur room (Twin with tatami area) was very big and luxurius by japanese standard and the hotel has rather cheaper option, but this is not (and does not sell itself) as a budget option! Reception friendly but be warned you will need to pay cash (in advance, as customary in japanese hotels). We tried the hot baths, which are private rather than common and gender segregated, that could be an advantage if you are shy, a couple, or have a tattoo. There is free coffee and a breakfast 'snack' in the morning, but no dinner option or real breakfast. Good but not very memorable.

Very comfortable Ryokan with delightfull hostsWe were greeted by the hosts who spoke very good English and were polite and very helpful. Our room was exactly as you see in the management photos. Very clean and easy to find. Only 1 street back from the main shopping/market street of Miyajima. Like many places in Japan its cash only but there is an international ATM about 3 minutes walk away. Very enjoyable. Only downside was we were on the 4th floor and couldn't get the WiFi working.

SpecialThis was probably my favourite place I stayed over my trip in Japan. It's the perfect mix of a modern hotel and a traditional ryokan. The couple that I assume run the facility were extremely helpful and welcoming. The beds were very very very comfortable and the room was spacious. It was a 3 minute walk to the famous tori gate and temple. It was a special memory to experience this little town at night and I would recommend it to anyone who can afford to even stay one night. One night is really all you need as it's easy to explore the whole village in that time. Just a heads up that it is crucial that you take the advice of the owner's and go to the restaurants they recommend. We walked around for a while and realized everything was closed and the only ones that were open past 8PM were those they recommended.

Lovely hosts, pleasant stay, private bathsThe hotel we usually stay in on Miyajima was fully booked when we made our late reservations for our 2017 autumn trip, but we found space here. We were not disappointed. The husband and wife (?) who run the hotel are sweet and thoughtful. Our room was fine, though we would have preferred their Japanese style room they were all booked. The kotatsu took up a lot of floor space, but it did provide a warm place to sit and relax. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The tokonoma area with the TV and teapot was somewhat crowded into a tight little space. We found the lights governed by a motion detector a bit annoying; they turned on automatically every time we walked by our entrance hall way. They might be useful as a safety feature in the middle of the night, but all they would do would wake up the other person. The private baths were a treat. We are used to gender separate baths, but occasionally find ourselves in a hotel with private baths and we enjoy the novelty of being able to share the bath with each other. The baths are on a first come first served basis, but we never found them occupied when we went to use them during our 3 night stay. The included breakfast snack is just that - a small starter to get you going - croissants, fruit, tea and coffee and a local liqueur offered by the host. The large dining area proved useful for us to make dinner the night our favorite restaurant was closed. We made good use of the microwave to heat items we brought back with us from a quick ferry ride to the main land for supplies. We very much enjoyed our stay here and will return.
