Pleasant & professionalWe stayed with friends and family (all adult) in Hotel Mitterhofer around New Year's Eve for a week. The hotel has a nice atmosphere that mixes hotel's professionalism with friendliness of a family-run guest house. We loved: - the staff: We had great help with our bookings and we'd also like to give special thanks to Istvan for making our dinners so pleasurable and for his wine suggestions; - the food, especially the lavish NYE dinner; - the cleanliness; - the bar and the community/music room that offered additional space for socialising with our friends and family; and - the location: five minutes walking from Planai West ski lifts. The only issues were with the outdoor pool that we didn't find useful despite lukewarm water and the noise levels (moderate street traffic, other guests) but the latter one is beyond staff's control. Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable stay. (review also posted on Booking)

Welcoming family hotelWe stayed here for a week when skiing c//o Crystal. Apart from the first day when we thought we would lose our room due to double bookings the week went really smoothly. Food was excellent...all local and very fresh...a smoothie maker would top it off as would tea making facilities in the bedrooms and lounge area. Bedrooms were very spacious clean and comfortable. The spa was amazing a real highlight although as with everyone else the pool was too cold to spend more than a couple of minutes in..we had been forewarned by the reviews. The staff were amazing, friendly and fun...they are the real selling point of this hotel. Big plus is being near to Planai West ski lift and a walk into town was pleasant. The night race was on whilst we were there...a truly memorable experience. Would definitely come again.

Lovely Week.Had a great time in this hotel in the summer. The food was great. Rooms big and nice. Matt was a great host and we loved everything about the hotel. The town and mountains are just beautiful and plenty to do for kids. I would recommend this hotel for British adventure seekers.

Skiing holidays with 5 other Irish ladsI had been contact with Mattias about the possibility of splitting our triple room into a double and a single - we had a serial "snorer" in our group. After a number of emails nothing seemed to be resolved but when we arrived at the hotel Mattias had remembered our correspondence and had indeed given us a double and a single- result! Thanks a million Mattias you saved our lives. You told me it was all to do with availability (try saying that !! but you worked it). Great hotel just metres from the main gondola (and the hospital - fortunately we didn't need it!!) but about 1-2 km from the main town but this wasn't a problem because if you are going to Schladming you are going to ski not to party - too much!! All staff wonderful (thanks Harry and Stefan in the bar) and the food every morning and evening great. Can't praise this hotel enough. Everything great - well, maybe not the swimming pool which was cool/cold. Apart from that no complaints from any of us.

Gem of a hotelI dont normally write reviews about holidays (or anything else for that matter), but just felt on this occasion I had to. Weve just returned from a week skiing in Schladming, which also coincided with the World Cup Night Slalom race, and have to say we had a fantastic time. Everything about the week was brilliant, but best of all was how we were looked after by Matthias and his team at the Hotel Mitterhofer. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone (reception, bar & restaurant, cleaning staff, etc) had a smile on their face and were always happy to help. The room we stayed in (no.316) was lovely with a nice mountain view and with plenty of space, which we always feel is important on a winter holiday when you have skiing gear with you. The food in the restaurant was great at both breakfast and dinner with plenty of variety and choice. The soups in the evening, in particular, were always very tasty (one which I really wasnt sure about from its translated description cabbage and bacon turned out to be one of the nicest Ive ever tasted). The location of the hotel is perfect for accessing the ski area. Its about a five minute walk to the Planai West gondola station, which we think provides best access to the whole area (being in the centre of the connected ski area and allowing immediate access to the slopes on both the Planai and Hochwurzen mountains). The location is also convenient for the town centre its about a fifteen minute walk, so close enough to access everything, but also far enough away to avoid the noise and madness of the Night Race party (if you want to). So all in all a great pace to stay if you plan on visiting Schladming. Particularly if you value a family run hotel (where all of the staff seem like they are part of the family) and where they really do care about their guests. Thanks for a great stay!
