Watch out for charges when booking

3 of us friends were offered a dingy, dark 1 bedroom apartment with no balcony for the price we paid. Then showed a lovely large 2 bed apartment with large balcony for 300 euro's extra. Finally a smaller apartment, 1 bed and bed settee, with very small balcony with partial sea views for 90 extra. Re budget available we opted for the latter. 'On the beach' only stated 'some rooms have balconies with no variation on price. Accomodation was basic but practical, no cleaning products, fresh bed linnen or towels offered during 9 day stay. It was 15 meters from sea as stated. Whole place full of mosquitto's, so all bitten +++ until we got 'bug busters next day!!! Overall the area was beautiful although remote (20-25 minute walk to bus stop). Great for a relaxing, quiet holiday. Nearby beach 20 minute walk through sea side forest, unspoilt and untouched by tourism and commercialism. End of season so no eating facilities, bar shut at local beach on 4th day, Busses to Gronji infrequent last one back 21.30. Gronji provided good bars and food, would recommend Srdela. Visit Trogir and Split for history and culture on local boat taxi's or buses. Car taxi £12.50 from Gronji to Donji. Overall we had a great time, but disappointed by accomadotion hitch.

    No restaurants, no shops

We booked an apartment here because the description stated "There are shopping and dining facilities in the immediate area. In addition, the nearest bus stop is just a short walk away." No there are not. No it is not. We arrived on a Saturday evening looking forward to a meal in a local restaurant. As our driver approached the area we noticed there didn't seem to be anything other than residential property. Our fears were confirmed when we got to the apartment. The owner said there are no nearby restaurants. To be fair to her, she very kindly did rustle up a basic meal of bread, cheese, ham and pickled gherkins, along with a bottle of the local white wine. Not what we were looking for, but beggars can't be choosers. We don't think the owner wrote the description. When we packed and left on the Sunday she did say that visitors to the apartments need a car. Before that happened, the next morning we set off to find some breakfast. After half an hour walking we reached the nearest restaurant. It was closed at 10 on a Sunday morning (not entirely surprisingly). The bus stop was close by, but there was no timetable, so we carried on walking. After walking for another hour we reached the nearest shop. We were fortunate in that 1) we are both able bodied and could manage to walk this distance and 2) that the weather was unseasonably cool under an overcast sky. Others might not be so fortunate. In addition, we did not see a bus travelling in either direction on our walk. Another complaint is that the apartments are advertised as having "wireless Internet access". It does after a fashion, but we couldn't get it in the apartment. We had to step outside to be able to pick up any signal at all. It would appear that we were given the same apartment as Mandy D, despite requesting one with a balcony. It is dark, because the windows face a wall and staircase (see photo), but I'd say it is clean rather than dingy. However for a self catering apartment I'm not sure that it is adequate. There are only two electric rings on the cooker. I can't recall if there is an oven or grill. There is certainly neither a kettle nor a toaster. There is a fridge. Food preparation space is at a minimum. Any chopping would have to be done on the table. I don't know what other equipment (knives etc) is provided for food preparation. In the bathroom there is not a proper plug hole in the wash-hand basin - the basin goes straight into the waste pipe so any small dropped items are likely to disappear. This accommodation is only suitable for visitors arriving with their own transport. Aside from the distance to the nearest bus stop we only saw one bus in a whole week we stayed (we quickly found other accommodation in Okrug Gornji where dining and shopping facilities are truly in the immediate vicinity).
