  Great Hotel - just sort out the safes!

  We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights in a harbour view room. We used the car park underground which needs pre-booking and is 20 euros a day. As others have advised, it is a very tight car park so be warned! Check in was seamless. Our room was excellent - a good size overlooking the harbour. It was reasonably well equipped although not enough in the kitchen to really allow much cooking, it was useful for the extra space. The bathroom was large although we found the hot water to be limited at peak times. The room was kept immaculate at all times. The beds were comfortable and the room pretty quiet, absolutely no real faults here!  The pool area is adequate however around 70% of sun loungers only get sun until 10.30, and the rest until 2pm which is a shame but cannot be helped. It is clean and chilled with no battle for loungers. We found the food at the hotel to be of a very good standard. A very good choice for breakfast including machines for hot drinks and juices, lots of fresh fruit, a great selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, breads and hot options too. The on site restaurant is excellent for A La Carte with a good range of high quality food. I highly recommend it for dinner and they offer 20% off in the evening for hotel guests. The only thing which let it down in this hotel is the safe situation and the way spoken to by staff which made us feel a little stupid. The in-room welcome pack recommends that valuables are stored in reception as this is the ONLY place which is insured for theft. There is a safe in the room, which ordinarily I'd use however this wasn't secured down at all and could literally be picked up and walked out with - therefore a little pointless. I asked reception to store our passports in the safe (I took a risk on the rest of money etc.) and we were quizzed as to why we wanted to. I explained that the safe wasn't bolted down and was she laughed and I was told "nothing would happen"... Slightly naive; nobody expects to be robbed otherwise it wouldn't ever happen! She did take our passports reluctantly...  A week later I asked for them back and it took a man a little while to work out where they were, he also quizzed me on why I left them with reception and not in my room again saying 'they're perfectly safe in the room'. He eventually found them and I showed him the room guidance which recommended the hotel reception which he shrugged off as "yeah I know". While not a major issue, please ensure either staff are happy to accept valuables or you re-write your in room guidance and take the time to secure your safes! We were made to look a little silly on both occasions for just trying to take basic precautions to avoid a trip to the Embassy for a new passport... All in all, an excellent hotel. Marked down only for the above. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a holiday in Makarska.

  One of the best located hotels in Makarska

  We spent 10 days at the Miramare with 2 teenagers. On arrival our kids were upgraded to a sea view room for free - these are definitely the better choice if budget allows and if your budget can stretch further, get a room with a balcony. This is something we really missed and would be our only criticism of the hotel - that not all sea view rooms have balconies. The kitchen area has a good size fridge but limited equipment if you want to self cater. The breakfast provided a wide range of European breakfast choices and was available until 10am.The outdoor pool is a great temperature but quite small and doesn't have a shallow end. Inside the hotel is a spa with small indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and small gym which provided a good opportunity to get out of the midday sun. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is close to the beach, restaurants and harbour but has excellent sound proofing and car parking - so you can be close to everything without the noise! Our favourite part of Makarska was the old town as it was quieter than the beach and harbour and provided a more modern eating and drinking experience. As a resort, Makarska is very busy - much busier than we expected so if you want a quiet getaway, this isn't the resort for you

  Great spa

  We had our car parked at Miramare hotels garage as the parking space in Makarska is crazy. The parking space in under camera supervision and is nicely spaced out also under a roof as its a garage. We also used their spa underneath the hotel and its actually beautifull for a hotel thats primary source of income in summer time at the sea. A great hotel with great benefits.

  Fantastic stay in a wonderful location

  Situated right on the harbour, nestled between the old town and beach strip. This hotel was superb. Spotlessly clean, with rooms of a good standard. The breakfast was excellent and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. All in all they made a memorable holiday super special. Hvala!

  What a view!

  We booked this hotel online not really doing much research as it was part of a bigger 7 week trip and lets face it, after the initial excitement of booking a trip it quickly wears thin. We both would have to agree that this hotel was the best hotel we stayed in Croatia. Its location, view and the food is spot on.
