Ok but not really suitable for international guests (that dont speak Chinese)We were there with our team for the Volvo Ocean Race for about 14 nights. We chose the hotel as it was the closest to the race village and our scout said it was ok. It was indeed ok but we had a very hard time as almost none of their staff spoke English and the ones that did werent quite fluent either. So, explaining any issue to them was always a major and we had to get our translator to help us every time. This hotel is definitely not for international guests (that dont speak Chinese). One also has to get used to the fact that any reception staff is not allowed to make decisions on their own, so the decision making even for little things/issues/requests always took longer than expected. We only had breakfast there which was also for non-Chinese good enough. The property itself was nice, with a nice view either over the bay or the golf course. The rooms were clean. They say that they have a spa but it was closed and the gym is very limited (the treadmills are old and dont work properly and the aircon was not working). They were happy to open it up outside of their regular hours though. The guys decided to play golf once but it was apparently quite pricey. So, again, there are definitely better suited hotels for international clientele in nicer areas than the Mingshen Jinjiang Golf Hotel.

Decent hotel in poor locationWe spent two nights in late December 2012 in the Mingshen Jinjiang Golf Resort. After having difficulties finding the hotel (vs. the golf course which is easy to find) we were given a room upgrade to a suite for the second night for no apparent reason. The personnel does not speak english but is polite although a bit slow at times. The standard room is okay but the bathroom seems not completed yet, i.e. no shower curtain or glass wall to keep the whole bathroom from flooding. The suite is very spacious with 2 bathrooms and a desk with PC and free internet access. Overall there is still a lot of gardening being done and everything looks very new and not grown in yet. Interior decoration is functional and clean. The breakfast is a good continental with chinese additions to it. There are two restaurants - a western and a chinese - which offer a selection of various sea food, italian pasta or pizza as well as BBQ dishes (western) or regional dishes from Hainan and other southern chinese provinces (chinese restaurant). Pricing in both cases is very good. The pool is large but seems not very frequented. There are no slides or other amusement features but a pool bar which was neven open (most likely due to the low amount of users).

Amazing resort and very nice staffMingshen Golf and Bay is a very nice golf resort located outside the crowded city center of Sanya. You can come here to enjoy the beautiful rooms, relax all day near the incredibly large pool, and have a copious breakfast in the morning, all in a modern and neat atmosphere with very nice english speaking staff. Their free shuttle bus is a must.

NOT for International ClienteleIf you do not speak Chinese, you will find your stay at this hotel to be INCREDIBLY frustrating - particularly if you're there for any length of time. Communicating was nearly impossible, the food was nearly inedible, the whole place was just a bit run-down and sad (there was a long-dead gecko stuck to the wall of a main hallway in VERY plain sight for our entire stay (3 excruciating weeks.) The location is not great. Taxis will take up to an hour to come get you, and many will refuse to take you back. Even the pool - which looks beautiful from a distance - is ice cold and a bit smelly. It's just not up to par with the international hotels in the area. Spring for the Intercontinental, or better yet, the Mandarin Oriental - I promise it will be WELL worth the extra cost.

Rude hotelThis is the worst hotel I have stayed in. Staff are rude and unhelpful. The assistant manager rude and unhelpful. Booked in this hotel with C trip arrived tonight, told by reception staff that I have to wait 2 hours to confirm booking with Ctrip when i booked it over a month ago and paid in full. Then i was told my room that was booked for 2, my friend could not stay. Then after argument with reception staff they said ok. When we got in the room there was a large balcony but no seats and no small table as in every basic hotel. I Called the manager as this was a family reunion and the wanted to sit on the balcony and enjoy. He said we needed to upgraded to get chairs to sit on the balcony this is unbelievable. We booked two rooms both rooms air con did not work, I called reception they sent an engineer who said he would try to fix it, if it did not work we needed to contact reception to sort it out. It did not work, then I we went to reception and the reply from the same rude female reception staff was. What do u want me to do about it. I asked for manager and he checked room and his reply after a rudeness attitude to us was check out I will give you your money back at 11.oo pm at night knowing we cant go any where else at that time of night. This trip was ruined by this hotel I have had a great time in China great people, but this hotel is not a side of China I would recommend to anyone. We travelled from the UK England to meet my friend's family he had not seen for a year. They ruined our stay here making his mother cry. If someone from China comes to England we care for them and look after them and give total respect. It seem this hotel has no true Chinese values im disgusted by my stay and will arrange a refund in the morning for the balance of my stay. And find a new hotel to stay in. I would advise not to book with C Trip if this is the case that you have to wait 2 hours after a month to confirm your booking. The name of of the rude unhelpful staff. Assistant manager: Shi Lei and the reception lady: Gao lina
