  Not used to serve western people

  They don't speak any english. There is no safe and no airco and you both need them. Breakfast is very poor. Only Chinese food and some toast. WiFi is good. Rooms are wide. Bottled water is free in the room. Light is poor. No bedlights and no closets.

  Overall good experience

  I arrived in Kunming at 6 AM and went straight to the hotel where I had booked a room in advance via C-trip. The staff do not speak English, but make an effort to help you out and even call you a taxi and tell the driver where you have to go in Chinese after you show them either a written Chinese address of the place or are able to communicate via a translator. I kept my bags in the luggage area which is well managed and safe, and checked in only later in the evening as I had planned a day trip to the Stone Forest. The room is basic and good for transit, budget travel. The WiFi signal was good initially, but a little patchy the next morning. The complimentary breakfast is primarily Chinese, but bread and eggs were also available. The chef took it in his interest to make sure that I had served one of the Chinese breakfast dishes correctly and was very hospitable. In terms of location it is about a 75-85 RMB taxi ride from the airport (including the toll) and takes somewhere between 30-40 minutes. It is about a 20-23 RMB taxi ride from the Kunming East Coach Station. There are quite a few restaurants around if you are interested in eating some local Chinese food specific to the Yunan province. There also quite a few Tea shops open selling authentic tea. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay visit, but come prepared with some Chinese translations either on your phone or written down.

  Positive surprise of our holiday!

  Unlike some other reviews of this hotel we think that this hotel was of high price/quality standard. Staff speaks ok english (in comparison to other chinese hotels in similar category) rooms are spacious, bathrooms comfortable. Breakfast is only chinese food. Stayed in room 615.

  Meh

  The good: centrally located; decent rooms if on a budged The bad: old hotel; old furniture; old bathrooms; hotel in need of refurbishment; simple breakfast and easily over-crowded; over priced buffet; Im sure there are better deals around. Next to the hotel there is a nice irish pub;
