  Great onsen experience

  Spent a day/night here with my son and his wife during my visit to Japan. Baths, both public and private, were good. Room was excellent as was the evening meal. I recommend this hotel for a relaxing experience of the Japanese style.

  Decent hotel - peculiar town - think Catskills

  Great value in this hotel. Huge rooms with both beds and tatami. Big breakfast tho lacking in western food. And lots of baths. But it looks like it's seen somewhat better days as some of the furnishings and carpets are weary and in need of repair. But still, I recommend it if you can look past the frayed carpets here and there. And the staff is great too. But the town is a bit of a ghost town. It struck us that the hotel and town are here to cater to the onsen trade - and that means old people comprise 99% of hotel patrons and townspeople. And it's a dying pastime and confined mainly to the elderly. Think of a hotel 15 years after the height of the Catskills and that's the hotel and town vibe. Still, lots of hiking and outdoors stuff nearby. But get a car: buses are rather infrequent. And a car will get you out to all the cool stuff - all of which are out of town.

  Onsen was superb!

  We stayed here last January 2018. The ambiance was nice. We were welcome by the staff. The room was nice and the dinner was so delicious! Tried the onsen here and it was so relaxing. The breakfast too was good. The staff are so polite. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and If there's a chance to go back in Gunma, I will definitely stay here again.

  The room were normal nothing fancy.

  We stay here only 1 night. The heater in the room was so loud and we smell the cigarette from it we cant sleep so we have to turn it off. The privet onsen room was great tho. The breakfast was very disappointed for me. Mostly, they served vegetable dish. We got only half of soba and Japanese omelet. The areas in the hotel are quite confusing. The staff will just point out where to go. Then you have to find your own way.

  Ryokan stay

  Spent a night at the Minakamikan Ryokan. Travelers seeking an onsen experience will be spoilt for choice with15 onsen baths to chose from. The private baths comes with additional charges. We were a little disappointed with the kaiseki dinner and some parts of the hotel certainly needs for renovations.
