Exceptionally kind owner manager, authentic experience and comfortAbout 10 minutes by foot from Kintetsu station, about 2/3 of which can be done down one of the shopping arcades before you take a street to the right, this hotel offers authentic tatami mat rooms and futons, modern bathrooms, a small shop and an exceptionally kind and caring owner manager, Takahiro. He will pour green tea for you and generally go the extra mile - for e ample, I left my electrical adaptor at home and he kindly offered to re charge it with his own cable. This place is an excellent introduction to Japan with care and kindness,

Wide room and good Japanese style breakfastThe room was pretty wide and they prepared futon for us. Everything was clean and the Japanese style breakfast very good. They also provide tea bags and some Japanese snacks. Around 10 mins walking from Kintetsu Nara station. 15mins from JR Nara station.

Comfortable and cost Japanese style accommodationThe hotel is only about 5-7 minutes walk from Kintetsu-Nara station. A great place to be based for exploring Nara Park, Todaiji and the Nara Museum as well as being close to the restaurants and shops strip. The traditional Japanese style accommodation was novel and interesting. A nice way to explore Nara. The hotel staff were very helpful with questions about local attractions, sight seeing and places to eat and spoke quite good English for a Japanese place. I had to look for places with vegetarian options, so this was an added bonus to have helpful Japanese guides. The futon bed got some getting used to, but that was part of the attraction. I also had to call each morning to get the hot water for the shower turned on. But this only took two minutes (must be gas system) and gave me a chance to practice my Japanese. It was very cosy comfortable and homely.

Exceptionally nice staff and room larger than most other ryokansPractically situated between the station (12-15' from JR) and the park, we were welcomed with our name on the welcome panel and the manager very kindly explained what ceremonies were in town that day, which contributed to an enhanced stay in Nara - we saw the burning of the mountain (4th Saturday of January). Our room was very large (twice as big as other ryokans we experienced in several other towns) with bath / sink / WC all separated; the green tea was excellent. They also have common baths (onsen-like), which felt really good after a cold day!
