Veterans landing cabin = waste of money. My husband reserved a cabin at Veterans Landing for our anniversary. While it was clean, we were greatly disappointed in our 2-night stay. The hard bed was AWFUL. It also had a plastic cover over the mattress which made loud noises with movement. I was awoken whenever I turned or my husband turned. The plastic cover also made you very hot. The second night, I even resorted to the twin hideabed. The springs in that mattress were quite painful in my back. Our neighbors at the rental house on the 2nd night also decided to have a late night of partying and stayed up past 3 AM outside talking loudly with their outside light shining into our cabin. Also, the tv remote was missing and so the channel was stuck on MSNBC. And the air outside smelled like a really bad sewer back up. So after experiencing all of this, I can't believe we paid the $100 a night to stay in this cabin. What a waste.

Quirky, comfortable place, but not a quiet retreat...The image of Bed and Breakfast is usually something romantic and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle. While my room at the Miller B&B met my needs for business visit in Waseca, I wouldn't recommend the place for a romantic getaway. Sound travels way too easily from Club 57 on the 1st floor to the B&B room on the 3rd. Oh, and there are very active railroad tracks just steps away -- those don't bother me, but you'll definitely hear passing trains. The room is comfortable and clean, with a huge bed and plenty of heat sources for frigid Minnesota nights. (The gas fireplace could turn the room into a sauna if you wanted!) The bathroom is neat and clean, though not particularly luxurious. One upgrade that is overdue is the TV -- HD isn't exactly a novelty anymore! Breakfasts are served in the basement at Jonny Beans. The service is fantastic, as is the food. The wild rice sausage was a taste treat I'd never experienced before...I'm a fan. Overall, I'd like to give this place a little less than very good, but certainly better than average...the quirkiness alone earns it better than an average rating!

We Didn't DieMy wife and I hoped to find a unique and fun place to stay, so rather than stay at one of the chains we took a chance on the independently owned Veterans Landing. When our gps finally brought us within a quarter mile of the place we were met by huge earth moving machines blocking the road. It was impossible to reach by car. Undaunted, we parked our car at around 9:00 pm, grabbed our luggage and started walking alongside the torn up road. Eventually we came to an unpassable section so we veered right passing between two badly neglected homes. Not only were the homes scary, the occupants were strangely outside vacuuming the dirt. I thought to myself this is real-life Breaking Bad stuff and wouldn't have been surprised to see Jessie Pinkman making a drop off. After passing the yard groomers we passed between overgrown bushes and trees to find our place for the night. Suddenly I realized Breaking Bad was nothing compared the Friday the 13th cottage we came upon. Spider webs, dust, and dirt covered low-quality finishes. When we quickly found our bedroom (which was an entryway converted into a room) we couldn't stand on either side of the bed. Even worse, an outside door was all that separated us from Jason. Needless to say, I didn't sleep a wink. When daylight broke, realizing we survived the night, we headed home grateful it was only for one night.

Don't do it!Don't waste your money. After hunting for our reservation for an hour, the bartender finally found it. DIRTY, NASTY and the train tracks are across the street, and they run all night long. You will not sleep.
