    A wonderful stay

    Unbelievable changes since the Old Mill. Stayed here a few years ago and it was horrible and swore I would not return. The changes have been dramatic. Completely renovated and opened in March. Beautiful hotel, very clean, follows covid guidelines with multiple sanitation areas and all staff wore masks. Rooms lovely and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent also. Could not say a negative thing about hotel. Also I must state staff were excellent, friendly and great service. Whoever has taken over has put hugh investment into hotel, and staff are a important part. Would recommend and will stay again in future.

    Fantastic place to stay

    Myself and my husband stayed here for two nights in mid August. The level of Covid-19 cleaning and regulation adherence was through the roof. At the same time the staff were friendly, helpful and very obliging. We ate one night in the hotel restaurant. I had steak, as rare as the chef would go. It was perfect, as we're the poached eggs both mornings. The only tiny downside is that there is no onsite parking. However, there is a public car park almost directly across the street which costs 2 per day - yes, that's not a typo, its 2! Without a doubt, we will be back to The Mariner!

    Disappointing service

    Stayed one night in Sept 2020, had intended booking a second night & quickly changed my mind after breakfast experience. Was 1hr and 10 mins waiting on a couple of pancakes. Not to be blamed on a packed breakfast room as it was at reduced capacity due to covid. Quite annoying that the 2 staff who were on duty would just dodge eye contact when we tried to ask them why there were such delays. There were 8 tables which is more than manageable for even 1 staff. In the end the manager came in to help them handing out tea. It was a shame to end out trip on this note, as otherwise it was a nice hotel and we had enjoyed a quiet drink in the bar the night before.

    Excellent meal

    Called in for an evening meal. Great staff, so friendly and helpful. Food was great, with a very good choice. Great choice of coffee afterwards, even if the pleasant waitress hadn't heard of the one I ordered but it was very well made and tasty. Great experience. New place and very clean, and comfortable.

    From arrival to departure could not fault this well appointed hotel..staff,food,room,decor,atmosphere and well coordinated covid controls. Look forward to returning soon. I would have no hesitation recommending the property.
