Not quite up to standardSo this is a fairly cheap motel, and we have stayed in plenty of these before but this one missed the mark. The staff were helpful and to be honest we didnt get time to raise any issues as it was a quick overnight visit but still I have not stayed anywhere this bad for a while and we have been travelling for most of the last year! We stayed in a spa room, but there was no plug for the spa (unfortunately we didntrealise this until9.30pm so did not go to reception) and also there was no proper shower, just a hand held hose with no bracket/support so you have to constantly hold it up over yourself to shower. There was also a leak in the bathroom somewhere so water kept accumulating on the floor, kind of annoying. Then there is the traffic noise from the main road, which is to be expected and the room smelt musty but there were plenty of windows we could open. However the bed was comfortable and the place was clean so overall passable.

Average motelStayed here for two nights. Clean and tidy thats why its getting a average rating however, the bed was very uncomfortable, there was only one thin pillow each no spares in the room. Very scratchy sheets which we couldnt sleep with. Probably would not stay again as we got hardly any sleep. If you are going to stay here I recommend taking your own pillows and duvet!

Musty, not enougth hot water, racist? We chose this motel(booked through Booking.com) as it was close to a venue where we had attended a birthday earlier in the day. Upon arival I went to check in at the (smelly) reception, the receptionist asked to see my credit card( I had already paid and the funds had left my account that morning) he then looked at my card and asked Do you have funds?. Im not to sure why he asked me this question as 1. I had already paid IN FULL. 2. Why would I travel without any funds. I felt this question was racialy motivated and was only asked because I was Maori. I just stared at him and said yes and that was the end of that. 5 minutes latter my cousin (who had already paid for her room) checks in but didnt have her card on her so the guy asks her to pay for another room$120.00 (as a security deposit) and he will transfer the money back the next day. Is that the norm?. I would have expected a much warmer reception comming out of level4-3 and my whanau had booked 3 rooms, thats alot of money. All our rooms smelt musty and stale but we were only staying one night so we didnt bother complaining. I think I expected more comming durring covid level 2 and thought that everything would be sparkly clean and fresh. I was wrong. We also ran out if hot water for our spa. I do not recomend this motel.

Good value, clean, good serviceI recently stayed for a conference after other places had filled up. I was very happy here. My unit was clean and nicely fitted. Everything went smoothly. It is not far from a good restaurant (Helm) and a good breakfast spot (Plus 91). Staff were super friendly in spite of my late arrival and needing to have my bag held.

Clean but noisyThe Mill is an ageing place, but the staff do a very good job of keeping it clean and tidy. I'd say in that regard it is appropriate for the price. The downer is the noise. It was like being on the set of a Fast and Furious movie. Hamilton is clearly home to a lot of men with a size complex who compensate with big engines, turbos with dump valves and "sports exhausts". Add to that the screaming and swearing from the delightful passers by, and I think you get the picture.
