    Cold Water showers

After spending days in a ger it would be nice to get hot shower. At the Mika Hotel the showers were cold or start out warm and go to cold. If you complained only sometimes they would warm up the water and they seemed to have ways of regulating the temperature. There was no air conditioning. The rooms and the beds were OK. The included breakfast was great sometimes and not so on other days and were not open if you had an early departure. They did store your bag while you went on another part of a tour and returned to the hotel. The location was good and within walking distance of many attractions. Some staff understood English but others did not at all.

    Needs a shake up

We stayed here twice for a few days. The rooms we got were spacious. But no cleaning at all during our stay. The first double bed was a shocker- hard and squeaky. No hot water for 24 hours during our second stay. Wifi didn't work reliably on the fourth floor and staff were vague about passwords (and spoke little English). Worked well when it did work. Breakfast - average. Generally a bit overpriced and uncompetititive. Also - get rid of the mini bar items, please.

    Interesting Mika

A nice friendly place which is functional and generally ok. Some rooms are better than others but the beds are hard . Some staff seek English and French. A bit of Russian comes in handy . Taxi service is a bit variable. When you call for taxi, a distant cousin of theirs may rock up. Makes sure you agree on a price, especially to and from airport

    Passable

The room I stayed in was slightly whiffy. The ventilation from the toilet did not seem to work. The beds were hard and dormitory style. Hot water showers were tepid at best. Great wifi all around the property. Breakfast included but they gave you whatever they felt like.

    Basic needs are not met

This is a new hotel in training. In my opinion, there are main basic needs that a guest needs mainly; safety, cleanliness, hot water and internet. The rest are called amenities or perks that separates a 3 star hotel to a 5 star hotel. An English speaking staff would be nice but not as critical as the others mentioned above. They have the cumbersome old fashioned keying system, a key that is hard to slide in the hole. After two unpleasant surprises and a full day wasted from hotel hopping, I came to this place and hoping to settle. I was already in town, I called the hotel directly to inquire on rates. The manager wanted about 30% more so I booked online. I arrived and the front desk staff barely spoke English. I made it to my room, top floor. It was nice, clean and new room, I can still smell its newness. I even have a tiny kitchenette. The bed was so inviting with its bright white linen. Bath towels look brand new. During the day, I made calls to tour outside of town and found one to leave early morning. I explained to front desk that I will check out for one day and return the next and if I can leave my luggage in storage. It took so much effort for my tour guide to explain this. When I returned, they put me in the same room but it was not cleaned. They also had a hard time finding my luggage. Again, the tour guide translated. After a day sleeping at the ger with no shower, I was told there was no hot water in my room that I have to come down to a different room to shower. Do I have a choice? I came down and waited for a good 20 minutes for the water to turn luke warm. For a country that is very cold, they seem to be content with luke warm shower. But I do not know if they realize that a foreigner may not be accustomed to that. Or I am not sure if this is a 3 star water requirement. It may be different from a 5 star. But so far, I have encountered this luke warm water since I arrived and also the other hotel. There was no luke warm water there, just plain cold. Upon my return, the power went out in the middle of the night. The internet has been down all day. This happened two days in a row so far. It seems I am the only foreigner here and I did not see any other guests. I do not recommend but then I am not sure if other hotels are any better. The lady at the front desk did not speak good English. So I showed her how to use the translator online and she was happy. Perhaps she can communicate with future guests better. NOTE: There is kitchenette but not all the rooms.
