    Excelente Ubicacion

~ NEXT TO THE SUBWAY ~

Less than 5mins walk to Myeongdong Shopping Street and located right next to the Myeongdong Subway station. Room was OK but the towels were old and torn. Breakfast was ... to put it nicely, it was VERY plain and VERY simple. It does feel like a budget hotel. Besides the location, the room we stayed, had a very nice view of the Namsan Tower.

OK but things could be improved upon

The best part about this hotel is the local. It is central to a number of things from places to eat and Seoul Tower and all Myeongdong has to offer. That said the hotel itself is OK. We did get checked in and I guess the hotel had room available as the front desk upgraded up free and gave us a Tower facing room (More on this below) We got up to the room and seemed OK. One draw back we noticed is the bathroom is a step up so remember to step up when entering the bathroom or else you'll end up flat on your face. Also unlike most Asian hotels we have stayed at in the past (Mainly Japan but also Korea, Singapore and Bangkok) but most hotels in Asia have a small packed toothbrush and small tube of toothpaste as part of the room amenities but in this case there was none. On the way out to grab dinner we asked at the front and they said they don't have so we had to find a small store to get them. Hotel 1st floor (Front is on 3rd floor) there is a small small store don't buy there as expensive but if you go out the front door and go to the right you shortly come to a small shop that is selling sandwiches, Right next door to this is a small convenience store they had a 2 park in there for about $5 with toothpaste in a small travel pouch. The one at the hotel was about $4 without toothpaste for just one brush. After that we went out to grab a bit. If the main street is the front of the hotel then behind the hotel there is a huge area of restaurants. At night also there are street vendors out selling all sorts of tasty treats! So make sure your first not to roam the area before deciding as there is just that much back there to try and sample! We got back to to hotel and noticed the room was rather hot so we tried to find a way to cool it but seems we only had heat (Was beginning of January so reason it was heat. So we just turned it off. Beds were comfortable enough but the chair and couch a little suspect. It's like old style fancy living room style furniture and I know the desk chair which I used alot while on my computer at times it just felt like the material was wearing out as you could hear a little tearing here and there as you moved about like it was in need of changing! Didn't use th couch which was more like love seat size. Breakfast in our case was included in our package. It was at the restaurant in the hotel lobby (3rd floor) It was passable but not all that great. Just your normal hotel buffet eggs (very runny I felt) cereals, Toast and fruit and then some Asian dishes also. But over all if I had to pay for it I think would just take something out from someplace else. The next day we went out and when we came back later we found out why the South Tower facing rooms are not good. The sun pours in and it ends up like a green house very hot! As I said above it was January temps outside were a toast mid 30's F during the day and Roasting mid 20's F at night outside and the room temp was so much that we had to crack both windows open despite the cold temps outside just to try and cool off the room as we never did find a way to switch to a cooler. Even with both windows cracked and the heater turned off it still took long time to cool off the room so if it's summer request a room NOT facing the tower or with a working cooler if you want to see the tower which by the way is just up the hill from the hotel so nice view of it for sure. Regarding the tower best way to access the tower from the hotel is to go out the main door and turn right. Cross over to the other side at the first crosswalk and then continue up the main street until you reach the Angled elevator to the top that is just above where you pick up the cable car. I have attached a map to the review showing the direction. Green is the hotel. Red is your route. Blue line is the angled elevator and then blue right next to it is the cable car station that takes you the final way to the top where you can then walk up some stairs that head to the base of the tower. Also on map is a purple line if you take this street and just keep walking back to where you see Lotte at the end of this back street is a major street this is where the vendors start at night the street will run off to the left and goes for a number of blocks worth of food vendors and a few gift vendors also. Everything between the hotel and the vendor street is packed with shops and restaurants all over the place so great for foodies! As far as getting to and from the hotel from either airport expect at least 1 hour to Gimpo and longer to Inchon if you take the trains. The rides themselves aren't to long but the transfers can be rather lengthy walking distance and I do mean lengthy so if you aren't good for long distance walks better to take a taxi or shuttle otherwise if walking is not an issue trains far cheaper. You have to pay a deposit for your card so add that to the ticket but when you are done with the card simply return to any ticket machine and click the return card button to get your deposit back. If you do take the train simply exit out of exit 5 or 6 for the hotel it's right there. If it's raining there is a direct entrance to the hotel you have to go down a small flight of stairs to the entrance and elevator just take it to the 3rd floor to check in. So while the hotel was just passable it is in a great location if you enjoy food. Lotte is also good as they have a small grocery in the basement floor to get drinks and such. If you like Aloe drinks be careful as I got what I thought was Aloe based on the packaging and turned out was this nasty tea type drink but the packaging looked like Aloe. It wasn't aloe HA HA
