Great Little HotelI had a very pleasant stay at Middle Flass Lodge. It's a sort of converted barn/cottage just inside the Lancashire border. My friend and I stayed there for four nights, as we wanted to explore the Pendle Witch Trail and the Ribble Valley. It's set just off the road, overlooking fields full of chorusing sheep, blackbirds and owls (at night!). First impressions are lovely; it's run by a very warm couple, Nigel and Joan. You go over a cattle grid and onto the driveway, which overlooks a pond, another field with sheep, a pet rabbit hutch and a patio area. Inside it is a bit old-fashioned, with polished dark beams, landscape oils and pictures of various classic steam trains, but I quite like that kind of thing! There's a cosy well-stocked bar and a sitting room just beyond the small dining area. There's a bell for attention, 1970s style! The room itself was very nice, fully stocked with everything you need, including biscuits, hot chocolate, tea and coffee. The bed has lots of pillows and everything is just right. It does have more of a B&B feel than a posh hotel, but it's all very nicely done. Nigel and Joan are very friendly and chatty and went the extra mile to make us feel at home. For example, we had a spillage accident with one of our bags at the start of our trip, and Nigel insisted on cleaning it for us! He's also there for you - often at quite late times, like 8:00 PM - if you need the slightest thing, like more milk or toiletries, and he'll happily chat to you about anything! We felt really at home there. The only criticisms I've got are more to do with the location of the hotel itself. It is a little out of the way, so the Wi-Fi service is intermittent at best, and your phone might not work unless you take it outside. Also, it does face a road that bikers seem to like speeding on, so do bear those two points in mind if those things are really important to you. To be fair, each time we raised the Wi-Fi issue, it was fixed immediately and without fuss! Alas, due to the location of the hotel, the reception seems to keep cutting out periodically. I think the hotel would therefore best serve travellers who are perhaps looking for a respite from the digital world for a few days. These two minor points didn't spoil our stay, however. Breakfast is included in the price, it's bespoke, and it's very nice, despite what some reviews here say. We didn't have dinner here, so I can't comment on that. Overall, I think this is a great hotel. And also, it's very reasonably priced too. There have been times when budget chain hotels have been more expensive than this, and when you consider how rubbish and soulless they can be, this offers way more soul and value for money!

Faultless Family BreakWe had 4 rooms over a long weekend, with different members of the family arriving & leaving at different times, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was lovely & the landlady was very helpful looked after one of the families additional requirements.

Fabulous WeekendAfter recently having had surgery, my Husband and I decided we needed a nice quiet getaway, having found this establishment on Booking.com we decided to contact them direct as we had a request we hoped they would be able to provide, which they did without any fuss, we really appreciate it thank you so much. also by booking direct the accommodation provider receives the guest full payment without having to hand over their hard earned money to the booking agent via the commissions charged, so for future guests please note it is always cheaper to phone and book direct. On arrival we had a lovely warm welcome from Nigel, helped us with our luggage and showed us to our room, providing us with the necessary information that was required. Our room was very well laid out, spotlessly clean with En suite Bathroom, toiletries provided. There was a welcome tray with plenty of Tea.Cofee, and such like with Biscuts and 2 bottles of water plus sweets. We had a comfortale nights sleep and met the Lovely Joan in the morning during Breakffast, There was plenty of options for Breakfast ,Cereal, juices, fruit, natural yogurt, plus a cooked breakfast which you choose the night before on a tick card system so your breakfat is cooked to order on your arrival in the Dinningroom each morning, which kept us full all day. Our Hosts Nigel and Joan have to be one of the nicest couples we have met during our travels, they have a great little business and we wish them well for the future. thank you both for such a lovely weekend. We will be back.xx Top Tip Book Direct, it takes 2 seconds to pick up the phone.!!!!

Just brilliant! This was a last minute find for a late holiday. All looked just fine on the website and on the strength of that we booked! We expected it to be good but it went far beyond that. This is a barn conversion which is now some 20 years old and still run by the same couple whose aspiration was to renovate and run a family guest house. The location is wonderful and very close to the village of Bolton by Bowland. The rooms are very comfortable and set to a style which you would expect for the type of building. The food is exceptional. Do not be put off by the request to choose your breakfast menu the day before or your evening meal choice early in the day. The breakfast choice and quality is beyond 5 star. The evening meal verges on a Michelin star eating experience from a very unassuming chef (Nigel the proprietor). Nigel and Joan are amazingly friendly hosts and always around. Great place, lovely folk and tremendous food. We will be returning next year. Steve and Lynn Oxon.

Wonderful StayMiddle Flass Lodge is an excellent location, it is extremely peaceful and quiet and situated well for hill walking and cycling. There are good local restaurants but the food at Middle Flass was excellent, both breakfast and dinner. The Patrons were wonderful, friendly and very helpful throughout the stay.
