  Not well maintained

  Conveniently located near town, this hotel is set in a colonial building. The lobby was great but the rooms were disappointing.Stained floor towels and bedsheets. Wifi that didnt work very well. Everything was just not properly maintained. Great hotel if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep shower and leave.

  Breakfast almost finished by 8.30. The lift was not functioning properly. No one helped with my bags to my room

  Especially when had to wait so long for lift, and we are struggling with the luggage, and in fact I asked for help, no one came. The lift was a pain. The sensors were faulty and it took so long to come. Otherwise all ok

  No trace of its former beauty

  Merdeka Hotel opened in 1965, and sadly it does look it. What was once probably a quite nice frontage is now covered in corregated iron additions. The only part that has been kept in good condition is the lobby. Our room had stained walls and hardly any water pressure at all. There was no shelf in the shower, so toiletries were on the other side of the bathroom above the sink. There was no towel rail, so the towel had to be kept on the door handle outside the bathroom. There was no lock on the bathroom door and no floor mat. Breakfast was so lackluster that we took ourselves off to Railway Coffee instead. On the plus side... there is ample free parking and reasonable wifi. If you get a room that faces the hill then there is no traffic noise. The rooms are not soundproof though, so it is not accurate to say that it is "quiet". If you are getting a room at a bargain price, then it is functional and relatively clean.

  Basic hotel

  Was our first time staying at this hotel. The room setup was very basic : no wardrobe, instead 2 hangers on a wall mounted hook; narrow writing table with no overhead light/ table lamp; low water pressure. Perhaps higher price room has better facilities.. Plus point is that there are many parking places. Easy check in and check out. Nice Surrounding area.

  Celebrating Merdeka at Merdeka Hotel

  Celebrating Merdeka day at Merdeka Hotel right here at Kluang. Built in 1963, this hotel was known as Kluang Hotel. It was solely catered to the British Army but was opened to public on 1965. They have spacious room while guests get to enjoy the view of the majestic Gunung Lambak Mountain. They have the first lift in Kluang. Due to its style & decor, it has an English style atmosphere. We paid only RM89++ per night via agoda. Overall a good experience if you love a hotel with carpark & to have a quieter place to stay away from the city. If you seek for history, why not stay in one?
