Don't stayTerrible stay. Hotel is old, carpet smells, noisy fan, window seals need replacing- street noise through the night. When I complained my room hadn't been made up after a long day at work, the manager said I could have called housekeeping (they'd finished hours before I did) and he'd take it up with them. Don't ignore the feedback and be more effective with addressing them especially in a covid world. Would definitely recommend staying away from this hotel.

DissapointedWith the 2pm check-in, the room assigned to us weren't ready. We booked for two nights. The receptionist, Jennifer had a "I'm too good for this job" attitude and not overly helpful. Our family had to spend 40 minutes killing time after a full day travelling with a ferry crosding from hell. The room we finally got were rundown. The carpet frayed, the door didn't seal properly and a very cold draft came in. The heater in one of the rooms are too complex to figure out. The kitchenette were run down and all the TV's were old. The shower was not great. Water damage to the walls etc. Parking was a major headache. Cafe 169 made a very average eggs benedict with unchewable bacon that might be just a slice of corned beef that was deepfried. The rooms were not cleaned by room service on the second day however it's included in the price. Not great and would not recommend. In a CoVid economy, places like this will need to step up their game.

Decidedly averageTo give the Mercure its credit, the apartments were clean and tidy and well-located in Central Wellington. However: 1. Our room wasnt ready at the 2pm check-in time. At 2:30, with the receptionist unable to tell us when housekeeping might be finished (they were very busy, apparently) we went out for the afternoon. A call was made to me at 4:30 to let me know the room was now ready. 2. Wed booked a two bedroom apartment with full kitchen. The photo showed the facilities included an oven. What we got were two adjoining apartments (called a suite) - one with what Id call a kitchenette, the other with a fridge and a microwave in a cupboard. 3. Even though we were on the 7th floor, it was noisy. On the Saturday night there was either a nearby party or pub that had music and very loud voices sounding out until 1:30am. Some double glazing wouldnt go amiss. It definitely wasnt 4-star! As a place to stay, it served its purpose. Would I go back? Not in a hurry.

Mercure Wellington - 2 Bedroom ApartmentGreat location - but sadly the rooms are nothing like the pictures, all windows looked at a wall less than 2m away. Our room was right by the lift which was noisy & it was not very clean. There is also a lack of seating in the lounge area (one couch) for a 2 bedroom apartment. Overall disappointing given the price. We wouldn't stay here again.
