  A little dated

  Could do with a make over as property is dated and looks unkempt. For example, the window in the room was cracked and needed replacing. However, room was clean, bed was average and check in and out okay. Ordered room service and food was well cooked. Was okay for overnight stay but would not stay longer.

  Heritage Building with old world character

  Review during COVID conditions. NSW Government Check-in QR code registration & temperature taken by staff. Monique at Reception when booking and on arrival was very helpful as we needed accessible. King Spa Room on Level 1 (Elevator access) in this Heritage Building has bigger walk-in shower with choose of Rainfall OR hand held shower head than other rooms. Spa bath for two is in the room with mirrors. (Didn't use this time) The lounge snug level (three steps down) has a Lounge and small Dining table for two near window with views. A Fireplace part of the hertiage building and decorative only. The Restaurant had to be booked (Covid numbers). Access to Restaurant requires you to be able to walk up four steps from ground floor as this is a heritage building. The food was delicious and generous meal size which is reflected in price.

  Good value & Very handy when visiting Maitland

  Monte Pio is a great spot if you're visiting the Maitland area. The building is a heritage building & has the old world charm. The view from our room was lovely. The decor was alittle outdated in the room however usable. The space in the room was excellent for our needs (travelling with a 3mth old we chose a double bed & single bedded room & there was plenty of room to move & store bags & a pram).

  Attention to detail

  My wife and I stay at this hotel while we are looking for a home in the Mailtland region. We are concerned that the attention to detail in the Hotel is falling. House staff are trying so hard to please the customers (and they are), but is up to management to see that there is consistancy in the rooms and resturant conditions. For example, no spoons in rooms for tea/coffe, breakfast - my wife ordered a plain omlette, as she was eating it she uncovered a plastic bread clip INSIDE the omlette. On asking the wait staff on duty about this it seemed that no one knew how it got there. Hard to believe.

  An eclectic hotel with very helpful staff

  This was our first trip since COVID - and the staff at the Monte Pio made us feel very welcome - especially Monique at reception who was joyous in her greeting. The rooms were modern and the hotel itself is an older building with eclectic styles of decoration and our children enjoyed exploring the stairs and facilities. The only downside to our stay was the fact that the room was noisy at night (pipes clunking in the walls) which affected our sleep - otherwise a great time was had by all.
