Everything is right about this hotelPositives: Great facilities (jacuzi, swimming pool, haman, sauna). Good ski location, with two ski lifts within easy reach. Very helpful staff (helped with ordering taxi to/from train station in Bourg St Maurice, ordered ski passes) Comfortable, soundproof rooms. Varied breakfast. Negatives: Only slight negative was the evening buffet. It was sometimes bland, and often luke warm

Skiing holiday 2020Good family room. Nice large bed. Good bathroom with a walk-in shower. Nice pool and sauna area. The only thing they should improve is the layout of the buffet dinner. Doing it along a wall made it a bit crowded and awkward at times. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. They offered a ski bus to the kids ski school. That was really helpful. At not extra cost !

Large comfortable roomsWe went in peak season with two boys in ski school, and ended up having to book them into the afternoon lessons(which is not ideal) due to the schools all starting at 9am and the Charmettoger lift not starting until 9.15. It's too far to walk for adults in ski boots, never mind little people. I wish I had known about the ski bus that dnewport used, but there is no mention of it on the Hotel website. In the restaurant you will need to bring a pullover or cardigan if you sit at the lower level beside the windows as they are noticeably colder than the upper section. You do get the feeling that the menu was designed by an accountant rather than a chef. However even though there was chicken thighs on the menu most nights, there was enough variety to satisfy most people. The accountant also decided it was a good idea to turn off the coffee machine for dinner as well. Personally, I felt the hotel is a bit isolated from the main part of 1800. There are no shops or bars in the vicinity. @ Mercure: could you fix the patchy lighting in the restaurant, some tables are very dark.

All round fantastic ski holiday.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Mercure 1800. Great rooms, great staff, and for skiing, a great location. For those who say its not ski-in or ski-out, that may depend on the snow-cover. Yes its not ski-out, but the piste is about 50m walk up the road and the Charmetogger lift is possibly another 50m further up. You can ski-in at the end of the day, although you do need to ski a little bit off-piste to ski up to the boot room, by the time we were coming home at 4:30pm this was already well-tracked and even beginners should be able to access it. The room: we stayed in a 4 person room, which comprised of a large double bed, and then 2 bunks. The bunks were a little bit of a squeeze for adults, but I'm over 6ft tall and I could stretch out without feeling cramped. Room was clean and well appointed (large flat screen TV and nespresso machine - and they replaced the nespresso capsules daily). Overall very satisfied with the quality of the room. The staff: Incredibly helpful and friendly staff in all areas of the hotel. All were bi-lingual and slipped between humouring my pigeon French, or speaking English. Despite arriving very late on our check-in day (it was about half past midnight), there was someone to welcome us to the hotel, who found the right balance between spending time to explain what we needed to know, and getting us into our beds! Very impressed with the free glass water-bottles as part of the hotels effort to reduce plastic consumption! The facilities: We stayed as Bed and Breakfast, but also used the restaurant in the evening on two occasions. Breakfast was great. Better than I've had in other places in the alps. There was a broad selection of pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurt, cheese and meats, juices, coffee and hot buffet options (two types of sausage, crispy bacon and scrambled eggs - the eggs were perfectly done - not too rubbery or watery). Additionally there was an 'a la carte' breakfast bar where you could choose to have fresh pancakes, crepes, fried eggs or an omelette made to order. The evening restaurant (we only ate there twice) was also a buffet and was there was a good selection. Soup, salads, bread, meat, fish and vegetables, desserts and cheese. Again there was an 'a la carte' station, which on our first visit was a freshly made burger, and on the second visit was a raclette. The food on both occasions was hot and fresh, although we were on the first sitting on both occasions. My only criticism would be the price. 36 EUR per adult for the buffet was a bit pricey. We didn't use the pool or spa services. The bar was OK. I can't say much for the evening entertainment (french karaoke night was interesting to listen to!), but we didn't really go for the entertainment, so just hid ourselves away in a corner relaxing. The open fire is a nice touch and generally the bar area is warm and inviting and again the staff were very friendly and helpful. If we come back to Les Arcs again (which is highly likely). I'd definitely consider the Mercure if we end up staying in 1800.

DisappointingSo disappointed. Had this hotel booked since January but arrived after a very long journey to a disappointing stay. No communication from the hotel about the change to their services during the pandemic. We think the least they could do is inform people of the changes especially when they are charging over 185 euros for substandard offerings and not reducing the cost to reflect this. The pool was closed - no notification about that. They must consider that people ar arriving with families !!!!!. There's no welcome letter in the room or info pack telling us what was offered in the hotel and nothing to say how to contact reception with the phone in the room. Info about the parking is lacking. The receptionist did not tell us it's free outside but directed us to the hotel parking (30 euros). Thankfully a kind person outside told us that it is free outside. We only booked this hotel because of the pool so we feel ripped off. It was not worth the additional 25 minute drive up Les Arcs and we should have stayed in Bourg St Maurice. Very disappointed and we would not return.
