Super kind staffExcelent service from staff. It was a business trip but felt like we were on holiday. I would highly recommend this place. They also have a spa centre which I'm not sure is part of the hotel but you have access to it from the hotel. We did not used the spa although we would have if we could. Thank you

Breakfast awful, housekeeping noisy, stuff went missing, isolated locationThis is a recently opened hotel so the plus sides are that it is clean. And that's all I can say which is positive about it. The downsides are manifold: Location awful - miles away from anywhere and takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the Metro station. Area feels dead and the hotel itself feels the same way inside. It feels like you are marooned in the outback somewhere and I say this as someone who knows Istanbul very well and is not afraid of using public transport and can get around easily. Housekeeping - very noisy and they disturb your sleep when you want a lie-in. In addition, during my stay, I had left the hotel for a few days (but had not checked out) and had left some stuff in the minibar belonging to me. I returned to the room to find the cleaning staff had emptied the whole room out, this despite the fact that I had paid for it and was due to stay for a few more days. I spoke to the Reception staff (English not great) and it took three separate attempts on three separate days to locate my things. Why the housekeeping staff think it's acceptable to remove personal property from a room paid for and when the guest had not checked out I don't know, but I found it very annoying indeed. Breakfast - awful. Paid for it in advance at £10/day. It wasn't even worth £2. The selection is nothing like what you see on the website and the only hot item was a boiled egg. Really, really annoyed. Tried to cancel the breakfast for the rest of the stay (as I wasn't going to eat it) but they wouldn't let me. One of the worse buffets I have experienced. They are using CoVid as an excuse to reduce the quality and variety of food - funny they don't reduce the price. I have stayed in Mercures before around the world - this is not a example of one I can recommend. There are far better hotels in Istanbul for the price.

Dust, mold, lack of soundproofDust, mold, lack of soundproof (I heard stomping neighbors), conditioner and ventilation works "at its own will" (and windows just cannot be open) - I am really impressed of this European quality in Asian Side of the Istanbul. There are some advanced technologies exists around the world (and in the Istanbul): carpet cleaning, curtain washing and sound isolation. Maybe it is time to learn them for Mercure?

RemoteI would look to avoid this hotel unless you are being treated at the nearby hospital for medical tourism. Very remote location at the end of a dead end road, in an industrial area. Hotel itself is nothing to write home about, would highly recommend the Doubletree Umraniye 1km away on the main road and adjoining Canpark Mall.
