  Convenient stay location

  We choose room with more space but bath instead of shower as there had been a misunderstanding with our original booking. Would have preferred shower. Hotel.very well organised for Covid - breakfast excellent as ever. Staff very helpful and friendly and a very convenient location for Truro itself and for travelling to other places.n Towels and everything available for replenishing rooms as staff not entering rooms at this time -which suited us.

  2nd great stay

  We have just had another 1 night stay at this lovely hotel. The hotel has succeeded to work around all the covid requirements very successfully. The new coffee machine was a great new feature which we used and appreciated. Breakfast was great and worked very well. Helping yourself to pre packed cereal and individual fruit portions and pre packed pastries were ideal. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast and toast was lovely. Service by all staff that weekend was helpful and friendly. Love the position of hotel to the town with parking available. Room was clean just shower room dated but obviously a working progress. Will definitely stay again hopefully this year once lockdown is lifted.

  Always good

  I have stayed at the Merchant House before to recharge and its always been great. As an essential worker it was really a pleasure to be able to stay at the hotel whilst the utmost of care was taken with regards to cleanliness and social distancing during covid times. There was a coffee machine available with unlimited amounts of coffee to help your self too as well as tea and coffee in the room with a kettle. The breakfast room was sanitised and clean at all times. Its nice to know that there is secure parking in the front or the back of the hotel. There is the facility of a washing machine and tumble dryer which just makes such a difference to have clean clothes all the time. Thank you for a relaxing stay and your friendliness. I'm sure I will see you again in the near future.

  Even under Covid restrictions this hotel is as cosy as ever

  Having stayed at the Merchant House on many occasions we have found every visit to be welcoming, friendly and cosy without exception. I had made a reservation for Saturday 7th November as had a friend of mine, then out of the blue in came the latest lockdown, so on speaking to Stephy at the Hotel I asked whether both reservations could be brought forward to the Wednesday, which she confirmed was possible, so we confirmed accordingly. On reflection I realised that I would be travelling back home after the lockdown came into force so phoned my friend who agreed perhaps it would be best to try and bring our date forward yet again, so the following day I once again phoned the hotel, once again speaking to the same young lady who very kindly arranged yet another amendment. On arrival, check in was painless, even with Covid restrictions, and after a very pleasant afternoon and evening in the City I returned to the hotel, enjoying the usual peaceful and comfortable night's sleep, waking refreshed and downstairs joining my friend for breakfast. As usual the full English Breakfast was substantial and enjoyable, service being whilst seated at the table at all times adhering to Covid safety measures and restrictions, which made for a comfortable and relaxed start to the day. I cannot speak highly enough of the Merchant House, hence why we always stay at this hotel on every visit to the City. Even by adhering to stringent Covid precautionary restrictions, this particular visit was as comfortable and enjoyable as in the past, so on a personal note 'Well done the Merchant House Team', and on this occasion a special shout out to Stephy who was so helpful and accommodating in our changes in booking dates. Look forward to seeing you all again once some normality returns......

  Visiting Truro Family

  We have just stayed 3 nights in this delightful hotel - the most recent of many such stays here since we found it a few years ago. It is so convenient for town in order for us to visit family who are busy Truro GP`s. It is significant that we choose to return year after year to this privately owned and run hotel. Breakfast, as always, is second to none and is well prepared with guests` safety and Covid in mind, and the staff - Steph, Stuart,Steven and Sharon (to name those we can recall) were excellent in every respect. Considerable thought has gone into keeping guests safe and well during this pandemic - for which we as age vulnerable adults, very much appreciated. Where comfort and consideration for guests are concerned repeat footfall over a threshold is to be encouraged when it is so well earned. We are both well travelled and appreciate both value and pleasant memories, and look forward to our next visit whenever the opportunity allows. NB: We were fortunate to stay in The Suite - which is spacious and very comfortably appointed.
