  Excellent holiday

  As previous reviewers have already mentioned this hotel is superb for comfort, cuisine, friendly and attentive staff. Special mention of Francesco he was great. We also travelled with Inghams who were very informative and helpful, especially Ian. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking the pleasant gardens and was of a decent size. The bathroom was also of a good size and nicely decorated. If like us [country dwellers] you are not used to traffic noise then the double glazing is excellent at keeping the noise out and the air conditioning keeping the room cool and comfortable at night. We had lovely five course dinners every night, beautifully presented and a good choice. We would definitely return to this hotel and beautiful town and surroundings.

  So Stylish - so elegant

  The Meranerhof takes you to a different world of hotel service.The staff were the most professional and accomplished that we had ever come across. Situated on the river near the city centre and promenade it is a haven of quiet and comfort. Breakfasts and evening meals first class. You do not get a 'credit card' to get in to your room but a big key on a heavy fob. This is a deliberate policy so you do not take your key out with you and it gives the reception staff a chance to interact and ask about your day when you return. You really are made to feel someone special here.

  Memorable Holiday - Style, Charm, Professional and Welcoming

  Returned from a memorable weeks holiday at the Hotel Meranerhof Merano - Inghams Exceeded expectations. Warm welcome - late arrival but a cold buffet was provided. Allergy request - a slight hiccup but this was immediately addressed, professionally, quietly, no fuss. Every member of staff polite, well dressed, and made every effort to make you welcome and that you were the most important guest at the hotel. For us the elegant some may say old fashioned approach was well received. Guests are made to feel like part of a family. Good bye handshake and wishing us a safe journey and hope to see you next time. Congratulations to you all at Hotel Meranerhof you have achieved what modern hotels lack, contact with your guests. Merano itself is a delight with all places visited staff have made us welcome and proud that you have chosen to visit them. We would certainly recommend the Hotel Meranerhof as a place to stay whilst visiting the S Tyrol. For us a special mention to Alex on reception who made me smile and laugh daily. Davide - restaurant trainee - he will one day make an excellent Head Waiter, also the other restaurant trainee whose name I forget, please accept my apologies, will be a valuable asset to any employer.   Old-fashioned, but very good!

  Highly recommended! Excellent staff, service and comfort. Cozy old style rooms with all modern amenities. Situated right is the city center, close to Promenade, shopping, restaurants, Kursaal and Teatro Puccini. A nice swimming pool and excellent food.

  Suggest vegetarians choose B&B

  We love the South Tyrol. We love Meran. Many aspects of the Meranerhof are excellent. Its location is ideal. The hike with Peter and Willi was a particular highlight. Our garden view room was spacious and elegant. The garden and spa area was good for relaxing after a days hiking. We booked with Inghams who assured us that the hotel catered for vegetarians, as did the hotel when we contacted them. We expect to be treated the same as carnivorous guests, and do not expect to have to make suggestions to the chef. We expect a four star hotel to provide meals not just avoiding meat, but offering healthy, balanced nutrition. Unfortunately this hotel thinks the former sufficient. The two starter courses were generally non-vegetarian. No effort was made to prepare alternatives for us equivalent to that served to carnivores we were repeatedly given melon (not always ripe) and mozzarella & tomato. None of the main courses we were served were of restaurant quality, unlike the food presented to the carnivorous guests, which clearly benefited from much more time and effort in the kitchen. Examples of the vegetarian alternative main course were poached egg on vegetables, aubergine (stuffed with bland couscous), cheese omelette and finally deep fried mushroom. The head waiters (who initially expected us to eat fish and chicken) were aware of the problems. We also informed one of the owners on a couple of occasions, but it made no difference. Our visit was in summer 2018 it has taken me this long to get over our treatment.
