    Large room, good location

We stayed at the Mekong dragon for 2 nights. On arrival they upgraded us to a suite. The room was absolutely huge and had a lovely balcony. There were a few odd things though. When we arrived, one of the pairs of slippers were out on the balcony in the rain, so we didn't want to use then. There was also not a hairdryer anywhere, but it said that one would be provided. On the day we checked out, we also found dirty tissues under the bed when we were checking we had packed everything, but we hadn't taken any tissues into the bedroom. The bath want very sturdy and wobbled when standing in it to shower- I was worried it was going to break. There was also a gap between the wall and the bath, which all the spray falls into. Should have been silicone sealants - I dread to think what germs are collecting behind there. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, but we had a few language issues on our last day when we were waiting for a bus that a member of staff had arranged for us. It failed to show up and that person was not at the hotel and nobody else knew anything about it. It would have been good if things like that, which you pay the hotel for, were recorded on the system. It also wasn't clear from the photos that the pool is next to the roadside, with only some skinny trees separating it. I was not keen to sit next to the pool in my bikini with everyone passing by foot, car or tuktuk able to see me. The breakfast was quite good, but the decor was a little bit DIY. There was a wall of plasterboard that had not been skimmed and painted, three types of flooring from a previous layout that had never been changed to suit the layout and the dividers arrive the pool had been sloppily slapped with orange paint on black with no real line to the edges. It all felt a little bit amateur. We were also only given one bath towel each plus the floor total. The hotel was advertised as 4*. I would have expected separate smaller towels for drying hands or wrapping your hair in. So after my cold shower (it took over ten minutes to warm up) I got out and had nothing to dry my hair with, as the only towel I had was around my body. So had freezing cold hair dripping down my back. And of course, no hairdryer. The staff were great and it has the potential to be a very good hotel; but unfortunately the bed was rock hard and the pillows were lumpy. We didn't sleep well and were lacking a few basic things that I would have expected of a 4* hotel, so I can only give it 2 out if 5.

    Acceptable mid range hotel.

Staff are very friendly and the rooms were clean. Pool water probably isn't the cleanest but I didn't test it. Breakfast is OK, probably on par with other similarly priced hotels in the area. It's situated in a good location, there's a great supermarket next door with a wide variety of reasonably priced imported foods.

Need some serious renovation and upgrades

Stayed there recently and was given room 507 on the fifth floor. The room was very spacious but everything else was so outdated and needed lots of improvement. The air-conditioning unit was keep dripping inside the room. Also the drain pipe of the air con was going through the bathroom which was not connected properly and the floor was wet all the time which made the toilet look so unhigenic and dirty . The sink tap was broken the main door key card system didn't work properly on one occassion I had to go 3 time to the receptionist to update my card key and on third time they realise that the batteries might have been run out so they sent someone to change the batteries. After 15 minutes they changed the batteries and I thought that is the end of my problem but not yet . After 30 minutes when I tried to go out of the room the door handle didn't work and I was looked inside my room because the during batteries change the door handle was not install properly. I asked someone from the staff to open the door for me from outside and fix the door. In this whole process the staff was nice and very responsive but this all could have been avoided if they had better standard hotel equipment. They also allowed me to have an extra hour for late check out for which I appreciate them. I am sure they have some better rooms therefore they have so many good reviews but all standards should be same for each room. Also I booked this from Hotel.com and they have pictures of few popular place with saying that view from there hotel which is not true they should remove these pictures as this is kind of misguiding the person who is booking the hotel. Please see the pictures I have a taken during my stay for all these problems.
