  Great onsen ryokan experience!

  Booked this ryokan during the new year period as others were fully booked. Surprised at the plus points: - a few of their staffs were able to speak simple English, - shuttle services provided to and from bus terminal and ropeway. Important as the ryokan is at the foot of hill. - peaceful surrounding. Not crowded with tourist groups. - whole place looked newly-renovated. Fresh smell and look. Some minor improvement which I think will enhance the experience even more: - more variety of food for breakfast and dinner. - better water pressure for in-room bath. Overall experience was definitely positive. Please consider this ryokan on your next trip to Zao Onsen.

  Made to Feel Like Home

  This is our second trip to Zao to go skiing for a week. We stayed for six nights. The staff will pick you up from the Zao bus stop when you arrive and drop you back when its time to leave. The manager recognised us from last year and gave us the same room which we appreciated. Zao unlike most ski destinations does not have many restaurants to choose from so we opted for the in-house breakfast and dinner plan. A real winner ! The food was excellent and varied daily. The Onsen is great with inside and outside options. The rooms are large which is handy when you are travelling with a lot of ski gear. They have a full ski gear drying room available at the front door. The staff will drop you off to go skiing and pick you up each afternoon. There is a large gift shop and cheap beer from the vending machines ... what more could you want ? Nothing is too much trouble for the management and staff. Whilst you are there they make you feel at home !

  Great place to stay!

  This is our second year stay here. This is a very warm and hospitable hotel/spa. Onsen is in house and very pleasant. Rooms are clean and spacious. We get daily breakfast and dinner buffet which is nice. The onsen is conveniently located in the 1st floor and worth the daily visit to warm up the joints after a day of skiing! Go into the bath in your birthday suite!

  Beautiful Onsen and fantastic staff

  Our stay at Meitoya So, was wonderful. The Onsen is in a beautiful setting and was open 24 hours. The staff made our stay even better. They were there for our every need, especially Robert, who constantly went out of his way to recommend great restaurants and outings. We'll be back.
