  Nice hotel on the beach

  Friedrichsruh is a good hotel, newly renovated. The beach is 30 meters from the hotel and Niendorf and Timmendorfter Strand is a perfect area for children and families or older couples. Rent a bike and you easily get around and experience the beautiful location. The staff is service minded and nice. The cleaning is good and the rooms are large and renovated 2013. The Friedrichsruh restaurant is ok. Avoid the half-pension which is a bit uninspired and low-budget. All in all Friedrichsruh is a safe choice in Timmendorf considering the fair rates. For the moment - 2013 - a new hotel is beeing constructed next door, so you will have to live with some noise during working hours.

  Nice hotel with very good food right on the beach

  Stayed at this hotel for a birthday celebration. Timmendorfer Strand is a very popular upmarket location at the head of a sheltered bay in the Baltic, close to Lübeck. Late in the season many of the restaurants were clos d but nevertheless most hotels were very busy. This hotel is right on the beach only a three minute walk from the harbour, where you can take a boat trip or buy freshly land d fish from the stalls. We could only get a room with a "side sea view" as we booked at the last minute. Nevertheless, our room,which was a corner room (number 311) on the top floor (there is a lift) had a great view and a second balcony that faced the street. The room was a good size and nicely decorated. No tea making facilities though and a safe that was coin operated. The bathroom was modern, spacious and clean. The hotel has a large restaurant and the food is excellent, if a little bit pricey. We had lunch, tea, dinner and breakfast at the hotel and all were very good, especially dinner. Lots of locally caught fresh fish. The hotel had a small pool and a sauna in the basement which looked good althought we didn't have time to try them out. You have to ask reception for a bathrobe to use the sauna. There is also free off road parking. All in all this is a very nice hotel to stay at in a nice resort, but the food is a bit pricey.

  Wonderful location on beach

  We visited Timmendorfer Strand in September 2017 to participate in a sea burial of family members' ashes. The hotel is located along the boardwalk along the beach - lots of places to sit outside and enjoy a coffee and people watching. Unfortunately, smoking is permitted on the terrace which was annoying. We enjoyed delicious meals of locally caught fish in the restaurant. Indoor pool is small but adequate; also has sauna and steam. The disappointment was the poor quality of the mattresses! I slept on the couch for 2 nights to ensure I was able to sleep. Had to ask for extra pillows. Short walk to harbour and lovely 20 mins stroll into town for shopping and browsing.

  Playa

  Hotel muy agradable cerca de la playa. Mar Báltico. Destacan las sillas de la playa con techo para alquilar. Hay que pagar un impuesto para acceder a la playa, no mucho pero limita el numero de personas en la misma.

  A perfect stay

  Me and my family stayed in the familyroom for one night. Supernice two rooms in one with a light and modern touch. Nice and clean. Lovely breakfast and very friendly staff. They made glutenfree bread to our daughter which was tasty. Parking 6 It would be nice to have the some bikes for rent. Long walk (30 min) to Timmendorfer.
