  Lovely

  We loved our two night stay here. Positioned high on the Napier cliffs with glorious water views, this was a luxury stay with wonderful home cooked breakfasts. But it was also much more - Yvonne was a superb hostess. We enjoyed her fascinating explanation of the history of the lodge, of Napier and its Art Deco origins. Our chats over a glass of wine each evening and eagerly took up her excellent dinning suggestions. This is the must stay at accommodation in Napier. Really enjoyable and highly recommended.   Art Deco home with history

  Beautiful Art Deco building set atop a hill with great views and lots of history which our host, Yvonne was happy to share. Her place is exceptionally clean, cosy and inviting despite the 30s high ceilings. Breakfast was delicious and the large kitchen table looks down onto the bay below. Would highly recommend a stay here if youre visiting Napier. Lots to see and do. Wineries abound. Golf courses nearby. Walking trails aplenty and so much Art Deco architecture to see.

  Clint Eastwood nailed it

  Its a case of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The facility is magnificent. It is hard to imagine a more beautiful B and B anywhere. B and does not do it justice. We were surprised there are no bathrobes in an other wise 5 star facility. It is difficult to find initially. From the north, Google maps tries to send you up a one way street the wrong way. Just put Chaucer St in your maps and head up from there. Once you get to the top it is a confusing rabbit Warren of streets. The coffee served is very weak. The owner is in the wrong business she is arrogant and endlessly condescending.

  An amazing location.

  This is a beautiful building, formally a maternity home amongst other things. Perched right above Napier with stunning views of the town. Our room was very spacious and beautifully furnished - lovely large comfortable bed. A nice sized bathroom with bath and shower. The shower was somewhat coffin like but effective if not large! Breakfasts were really spartan with very little choice of fresh fruit etc; I also didn't like the fact that we had to choose the night before what we wanted to eat for breakfast the following morning - very odd! coupled with this we were asked to refrain from using mobile phones at the breakfast table!!!! Coming from the other side of the world breakfast time is the optimal time to catch up on emails etc; However Yvonne, the owner, was more than happy to recommend restaurants and book cabs for her guests.

  Superb

  Absolutely stunning building, glorious room and fantastic hospitality. Yvonne is a gracious host and fantastic cook. Loved our breakfasts and her charming conversations. She also gave us great advice on what to do. Public rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Building has an interesting history. You wont be disappointed.
