Bring a bath towel (not provided)We chose this hotel, because the price is much lower than High 1. The hotel was rather easy to find, and they have a shuttle bus directly to the Valley condos of High 1, where you can rent ski's and buy the lift pass etc. Note that with a Shinhan bank card you get quite a good discount on those. The hotel also rents skis and supplies, including clothing, good quality as well. We stayed in a twin room with 3 people, the 3rd person (child) sleeping on the Korean style mattress (on the floor). The room temp was set to 27 degrees, way too hot. We had a balcony door and left that open for a while to cool the room down till 22 degrees. At night we also left the window slightly open to get fresh air. The kitchenette is a nice extra, and you might be able to prepare a meal there; utensils provided are only spoons and chopsticks, so if you need a knife (and fork) bring your own. You could bring your rice though, a ricecooker is standard. Also bring a bath towel, they only provide face towels. So after taking a nice hot shower, drying is a bit of a challenge. No soap, shampoo or other amenities are supplied. Worst thing about the hotel is the elevator. In the weekend, when it is probably fully booked, it can take very long waiting. We stayed on the 7th floor, and on Sunday we checked out, so I tried to take the elevator to go down. I started clocking the waiting time, and left it running when several times I could not enter the fully packed lift. I stopped the clock after 14 (!!) minutes, when I decided to take the elevator up to the 12th floor first, so at least I was already inside. Horrible.

Basic hotel but perfect for proximity to High 1 ski resortWe have spent 3 nights over lunar new year at Mayhills resort. Very happy with the size of the room- 1 double bed & korean style bedding for our 2 teenagers. The kitchenette- fridge and stovetop are convenient and gave us the option to bring groceries and cook / heat up breakfast or dinner options. The shuttle service is very regular and a 5 minute trip to Valley condo where lift tickets can be purchased quite easily. Did not try the restaurants in the hotel but there are a lot of local restaurants that deliver food which is handy after a long day skiing. Would recommend for functionality and convenience and would stay again. The 2 downsides for us- not daily housekeeping and hotel reception not overly helpful or accommodating.

So much more that could be done... very ordinary placeNice room and a promising facility but that's were it ends. The corridors are worn, elevators not maintained (do not stop on every floor), cleaning in public areas average, shops are empty, no bath towels provided, internet only in the lobby area... It's actually not a bad hotel and the rooms are nice but seems like management has given up entirely.

Needs remodellingPrice was excellent but the rooms were worn out. The location is great for touring Gangwondo, but again they need to update the furniture and appliances in the room. We have stayed here twice and had the same problem both times

Its an excellent valueWe came for the Taebaek Snow Fest and were leaving Friday after work so we could be at the festival early morning since its an almost 3 hour drive. So we really just needed a place to sleep. Nevertheless, even if just for one night, I make sure to do my due diligence in picking a hotel right for the occasion. I didnt want anything too fancy since we would just be sleeping the night and leaving but obviously nothing bad. Its definitely an older hotel but our room was in great condition and clean. They provided floor mattresses so we setup a floor bed for the kids, they were thrilled to sleep on them. Its very basic in amenities but thats just it, they really are just providing a room and thats fine. How much time do you really spend in a hotel room when youre visiting a place? The bed is Korean-style, so its a firm bed but we put the extra quilt they provided on top and it served as a mattress topper. We got their smallest room which is very large for being the smallest, I cant believe it only cost about $60. But think of it as a studio apartment, complete with a kitchen, rice cooker, and dining table for 4, so you can even have a budget vacation and cook yourself. Its very close to the High 1 Ski slopes and about a 20-minute drive to Taebaeksan. They also have a convenience store on the premises and a lot of restaurants nearby. There is a nice cave system to go see nearby as well. They do provided towels and a small bar of soap but bring your own shampoo and conditioner.
