Please, please, please, avoid Listvyanka and go literally anywhere else on Lake Baikal. We wish wed been told this.

Save your time and money and go to okhorn island instead. This hotel, like all of Listvyanka, feels like it was built and maintained by school wood working class. Steps misaligned, small rooms with hard mattresses. And outside, chunks of the boardwalk falling into the lake, rusting hulks used as piers for boats that are aspiring to be rusting hulks in a year or two. Dance music played everywhere, all the time, by everybody. People smoking cigarettes while smoking meat and fish on dirty barbecues made of rusty barrels under sagging coca-cola umbrellas. This is the absolute worst of this beautiful country, and the worst of its people. Surly and unfriendly, leering men with open shirts and medallions. Bedazzled denim everywhere. This is what you were worried Russia would be like, but not at all what the majority of it is. Avoid and go to any other part of the lake. Any other part. Having travelled all over Russia this town is the very worst of this truly magnificent country.

    Avoid if you can!

If youre looking for a hotel where you can relax, experience fine dining and sleep well, look somewhere else. Promises of being able to get a meal 24 hours a day proved elusive at 5:00 pm as all restaurants on the premises were closed and the main dining room for dinner was booked for a private party that night with only the cafe opening for dinner at 7:00 pm. Regarding sleeping; the first night there was a knock on our door at 3:00 am, followed by a second knock 10 minutes later. Concerned that it was our travel companion, I answered the door only to find no one there. That was the end of sleeping the first night! The second night the aforementioned party had disco music blasting so loudly that the walls and floors were vibrating to the tempo. Exhausted from my early awakening that morning, sleep was elusive this night until after 11:00 pm when music had to stop by law. The third night proved no more restful as someone chose to rearrange furniture at 4:30 am, thus donating the sound of scraping chair legs on the hard floor below my room to the ambiance. This went on for more than an hour and by 5:30 was accompanied by a rooster awaking the town. At 6:30 the plumbing to the room above started rattling and I completely gave up on falling back to sleep, but the good news is that it gave me the time to write this review! As for the staff; I would have expected this level of surliness from older people and was surprised that this attitude has permeated the young staff working here. If help couldve been offered it was not with repeated responses of Thats not possible, given without an apology. The only thing this hotel has going for it is that its centrally located so we could walk along the waterfront to find restaurants, an ATM, and ubiquitous tour boats.

    Nice Place

Great location, overlooking Lake Baikal. Rooms: anything from tiny to spacious suites. Reception: Friendly and helpful, English ok Food: very good, very elegant dining / breakfast room. The hotels fetaures a typical Russina Banjy (sauna) at an extra charge. To be recommended!

Nice Location - Very poor service

We was very excited to come to Siberia for the first time and we decide to stay one week more than the day of our race... we book on 25 february 2020 until day 2 of march. If you are looking for the best view of sunset this is a really good hotel for that. Except for the view and the restaurant which on floor basement is really excellent choice for price and taste (I recommend it)... the management staff should be little bit more worry or may be they just not care at all. We have been already 3 days here... the normal expectation as to get a clean room everyday is not something normal you have to fight for it... they will always in reception say ok and never come... If you would like to have WIFI which i recommend you because the tv channels does not have at all international single channel... well WIFI into the room are quite complicated... they will give nice tickets with codes ... no worries about that there is no signal at all... you can complain or not.... ahahah They just not care at all. If you would like to have any information about tours of things to do or to see... please do not think to ask at reception ... THEY JUST DO NOT CARE AT ALL... I will not speak about quality of room or bed... which i still feel the steel into my lumbar spine... but i will not complain about too Probably because i am coming from different culture but i never see a poor service like that... and once again the view from the room is beautiful ...
