    What a pleasurable holiday location...

Fantastic room .. attentive staff .. wonderful setting to enjoy superb pool holiday experience .. food exceptional .. everyone happy to meet, greet and cater for your needs. Ginnaro and Nicola were the stand outs for dinner and breakfast service with very genuine involvement... not forgetting the maitre de who was ever present at breakfast... and Brenda (?) on coffee. On a personal note, I would book a hire car as it would be nice to feel a little less reliant on others for getting about (not road safety aware for walking). Loved it all... Tim & Davina (UK)

    Just Stunning

Myself and my fiancé have just returned today from Masseria Muzza and I felt compelled to review straight away! What can I say - nothing less than stunning. The place is incredible. Having spent our last holiday in the Maldives we were not sure we could top it, but we pretty much did! The buildings are beautiful, right oms large and comfortable, and the infinity pool is spectacular. Food is very good, great selection of wines although be warned, it is not on the cheap side of things if you are drinking there (7 euro for a beer is about as cheap as you will get, but then if you book here it shouldn't matter it is that good!) Best of all we're the staff. Never on many trips and holidays have I met a more welcoming and friendly group! Always there to help, have a chat with and always thinking of how to make your trip more enjoyable. We got home 5 hours after leaving and we're already working out when we can go back!

Wonderful time in Otranto thanks to Masseria Muzza

My wife and I had a very nice time in This wonderful masseria, The room is very nice and spacious with a very nice view and comfortable bed. Breakfast is excellent with various choices for everyone we really like it very much. The staff are are amazing and couldn't be be more helpful. It was my wife's birthday and they made a very nice surprise for her that was really excellent. We really recommend this to everyone with any hesitation.

    Lovely place

Another fabulous stay at this great hotel, slight quirky in some aspects but what really makes it special are the people. A huge thank you to Patricia, Antonio and Genaro plus all the others everyone so kind, friendly and helpful. If you ask I believe there is very little they cannot do for you. This time visited the spa which was also fabulous. Food was great although one night not a lot of choice, a blip in numbers I suspect. Struggled a little on occasion with staff numbers to onslaught of guests at the same time but with their usual charm soon sorted and on holiday who needs to rush anyway? Visited June and September this year and think my preference would be June, one of the main reasons being the bonfires in September , must admit to not being a lover of the smoke smell! Leaving early morning we were given picnic breakfasts, thank you a lovely treat.

Mixed but overall not worth the extortionate price

Pros: - general staff: with the exception of the manager and his wife (see below), all were very helpful and courteous. - beach: save for the price (see below) the hotel is near (requires the hotel minivan) a very beautiful and popular beach and staying at the hotel guarantees you their umbrellas and sun beds. - breakfast and serata salentina: the breakfast and Salento theme night were extremely good. - main pool: very attractive and large main pool. - size of rooms: if room size is important, the rooms are very large. Cons: - extremely expensive: 1000 a night for a family suite. Some of the below may have been forgiven for a hotel 1/3 to 1/2 the price but is simply unacceptable at this price. - In-room wellness pool: cold (supposedly 27-29 degrees but very cold to touch throughout our stay) dirty looking, entirely unappealing. We did not use it. - manager/owner: he and his wife repeatedly gave preferential treatment to certain guests, eg overlooking loutish behaviours, slipping in special extra courses in set menu nights, special wine, repeatedly checking in with them etc - none of which we would have wanted to be directed at us to be frank but it is extremely unprofessional and neither he nor his wife said a word to us during our trip - on more than one occasion they appeared to intentionally bypass our table. - pool service: the waitress came to take our order within a couple of minutes via a push button service, but we then waited 50 minutes for the drinks to arrive, despite there being only around 4 other small groups at the pool at that time and no one in the restaurant. They also charge a 10% surcharge for pool service which is somewhat inexplicable given the pool is right next to the restaurant/bar. - other guests: a large group of loutish Italian men (10-15, mid 40s in age) were present throughout our trip. They dominated the pool, repeatedly shouting rudely at the staff for more alcohol (oi - bring me another bottle, the last one you brought me was empty wasnt amusing the first time; at the 20th time it was somewhat grating) and generally being obnoxious and vulgar. Possibly from the same group were the people in the room above us who, while we can only assume were enjoying themselves emitted murdered pig sounds ALL night keeping us and our children awake. All of these went entirely unchecked by management. While I cannot generalise about all guests, a significant enough proportion certainly appeared to be of a similar type and were people I would not wish to spend any time around. - food: while as stated above the breakfast was excellent and the serata salentina was also very good, the food on a general night in the Limonaia restaurant was poor - extremely expensive for a tiny, cold (it was clearly meant to be hot as we were told to be careful with the hot plate) couple of octopus legs in tomato. It could have come from a tin. - beach cost: at 1000 a night for a room, I would not be expecting to pay an additional 30 to use their beach. - general appearance: the masseria is painted white, everywhere. This is fine, but if this is what you are going for, it needs maintenance. The large wall between the main pool and the smaller pool was peeling into a mucky beige which made the smaller pool look pretty unappealing and some of the paintwork around the masseria generally seemed to have been applied slapdash and in a hurry. A number of the decorative ceramic fichi dindia in our room had fallen off their picture frames and had not been replaced. - WiFi: poor - no internet on the private in-room network and poor reception throughout on the public network. Overall the masseria has some nice feature and maybe if you are staying in a much cheaper room off season some of the above may feel like less acute of an issue, but when comparing it to the Puglian masseria we stayed in immediately prior to arriving at Masseria Muzza, which cost 1/3 of the price and was infinitely nicer, it did not live up to expectations.
