fabulous start to an Italian adventure...

arrived here having flown into Brindisi and hired a car - this is an authentic masseria (olive farm) owned by a family who truly care about what they are doing and ensring their guests are well looked after. We stayed in room 'Grotta' - an amazing luxury cave (very comfortable & spacious), wonderful... The food was excellent, we were able to have an olive oil tasting with the owner (Guiliano) and explore the farm itself. Fasano is a great place to explore Pugilia.

    Lunch visit

We werent staying, but stopped in for lunch on our way back to Bari (you can email or call to make a reservation). Great service and beautiful food (the straciatella, tartuli and almond salad is incredible) - and all at a fairly reasonable price. We enjoyed then strolling around the delights of the Masseria grounds to walk off some of the damage

A sustainable, eco-friendly farm house with rustic charm!

We had a lovey time staying at Masseria Montenapoleone. The old converted farm house is much bigger than any of the other Masseria's I have stayed at in Puglia, with lots of rooms and suites, and plenty of hidden corners and gardens to explore. Our suite was very spacious and clean with antique furnishings and kitch boutique touches. The room was very soundproof, lovely and cool with excellent AC and fantastic blackout blinds, so we slept amazingly! I would say one of the best night's sleep I have ever had! The grounds surrounding the farm house are full of olive groves (with trees over 1000 years old), wheat fields and fruit trees. I love that it's still a working farm and much of the food produce and wine in the restaurant comes straight from the gardens! Alessandra and her team care deeply about sustainability and ensuring that the hotel lives in sync with the earth it resides on. It makes it a great experience, learning about the local agriculture, eating with the seasons and appreciating the tastes and smells of truly fresh, home grown, home made produce! Walking around the property you will come across several different dining areas, and corners with lounges, quirky, rustic re-upholstered furniture with a shabby-chic finish, and bunches of fresh flowers everywhere! It's a VERY photogenic place, and would be an incredible location for a wedding or event. The pool area is nice, with lots of cabanas and lounges, and the staff are very cautious taking measures to ensure it's covid safe. One of the highlights for us, was the magnificent breakfast feast! We ate like queens! So much lovely food and the prettiest setting in the courtyard surrounded by fig trees, with a canopy of grape vines above. I think this is a wonderful accommodation choice for people who like peaceful country vibes, and more character than the big chain hotels can provide! A lovely stay!

    Family owned Hotel

Lovely hotel with spacious rooms, all rooms are different with unique with eclectic look, my room have a small inner courtyard with a Tree swing and shower. Hotel is in the heart of a working farm of olive groves, almond trees along with grapes, they product there own wine (very tasty). Food is good, service attentive and team very helpful. Relax by the pool, wonder around the estate, leisurely lunch in the restaurant or a short drive from the coast or scenic villages...

Perfect in every way-- we were truly sad to leave

This masseria was wonderful, in every way. Our room was spacious & included some nice treats when we arrived (almonds, peanuts, candy-coated almonds) & we also had 4 complimentary bottles of water in our fridge. There was a thick, high quality white duvet & white sheets & a spacious bathroom. I LOVED the views of the countryside & fruit trees & the little balcony we could sit on. Breakfast was fantastic! They arrive at your table with a tray full of goodies-- croissants, cakes, breads, cookies (in a bag so you can take them to go if you wish) & a basket of fruit. We requested meats & cheeses & were pleased with a plate of ricotta & fresh burrata! as well as salami & you MUST try their eggs! I am not a huge scrambled egg person but these were creamy perfection. We had dinner at the restaurant 2 nights because with the Covid restrictions all local restaurants must close at 6 pm. However, guests at the masseria can dine at any time on-site (what a perk!). Beyond that, the food, wine & ambiance was FANTASTIC! This place is not inexpensive, but we had a homemade tagliatelle pasta with sausage meat balls & tomatoes that was incredible. It was so simple & yet outstanding; my son & I couldn't stop raving about it. There are also MANY animals on this masseria, which my son loved. We befriended the 3 dogs who wander around freely & each day went to the animal area & enjoyed seeing the pigs, chickens, ostrich! & goats. I was a little heartbroken seeing rabbits all crammed in a tiny cage with no room to stretch or even walk.... this is considered unacceptable & cruel in the United States & I'm hoping they do let the rabbits out of that cage at times?? I think one of my favorite parts of this masseria was the way the staff says you can walk around anywhere, explore & enjoy. It made for such a relaxing & welcoming feeling. I also had a couple questions during our stay & could WhatsApp text them & they would respond within moments. Additionally, I have yet to see any hotel or lodging option go to such strong measures for cleanliness, safety & hygiene; Masseria Montenapoleone followed the protocols to the letter, & then some. One note: the wi-fi is really poor & spotty. We had 1 "bar" the entire time so it was very difficult to do work, check email, etc. When we visit Puglia again I will only choose masserias (loved them!) & we will return to Masseria Montenapoleone again. What an extraordinary, special place.
