TonyVery underwhelming experience. Food basic and miniscule portions, breakfast apalling, even served previous nights leftovers! Nothing authentic about this food. Room small, shower pressure and temperature very unpredictable. Questionable maintenance on swimming pool. Forced to leave after only 2 nights, originally booked for 4. Couple we were travelling with had an issue with the overpowering stench In their room, unfortunately management were less than sympathetic in fact probably the worse case of customer service i have ever come across ! Things got very nasty when we were asked to pay for the remaining 2 nights, we were threatened and intimidated and in the end agreed to pay for only 1 of the remaining nights originally booked. Overall do not recommend agriturismo in general, very unprofessional and definitely not value for money, questionable authenticity regarding food served!

Hidden treasureI can't imagine the previous single negative review being true as we experienced everything fabulous! Warm welcome, lovely ambiance in an 18 century stable, beautifully plated and delicious fresh food, ample portions. Most original, interesting menu yet in the area of local cuisine! All 4 of us loved it! We didn't stay there but saw the rooms that look lovely and clean. The restaurant bathroom was very nice as well.

A comfortable castle and welcoming hostsThe online photos dont capture the spirit of this warm and wonderful Masseria. It was a bit hard to find down the road to an unpromising building, but delightful inside the wall. We felt like we were in a castle, but with all the comforts of the modern era. It has been in the family for generations, and the owners pride in their property shows. They were so kind and welcoming. A garden, Lots of antique furnishings and comfortable seating areas. They were just filling the pool when we were there, so it should be ready now. We had reserved for 2 nights but prolonged our stay and might still be there, but common sense prevailed. Our room was spacious and high ceilinged, the bathroom, a bit dated, was adequate, and the shower fine. The breakfast was typical sweets and cheeses in what felt like a baronial hall but was the former stable. Otranto is a lovely city that closes down in the afternoon, and it was a pleasure to come back to the Masseria. So much nicer than some of the more polished, corporate, and, yes, more expensive, places in the area. If you want modern luxury, this may not be for you, but to capture the spirit of Puglia, definitely.

Could be excellent with some workStrongly recommended by friends, we wondered how our experience could have been so different from theirs. Masseria Gattamora has a beautiful traditional stone building, lovely gardens, a fine restaurant and a charming hostess. It also has quite a few limitations. Wifi works well only in the large reception area. There are no seats in this area, however, so you must stand while trying to access a wifi signal. There is a small bar and a wonderful courtyard. But there are no chairs and tables in the courtyard, so no way to hang out there. There is a nice pool, but when we wanted to use it there were no towels and no one was around to provide them. The hostess who had shown us our room was nowhere to be found. We finally asked the only staff member we could find, a waiter who was setting tables for dinner and who seemed annoyed to be interrupted to get pool towels. None of the staff ever asked if we wanted anything. Coming down for a pre-dinner drink, we eventually interrupted that waiter who was setting up tables for dinner and asked him for drinks. The only place to sit with our drinks was at a dinner table. Our room was very small. We barely had room for our suitcases without them being in the way. It did however have an amazing patio, but that patio only had one plastic sun-lounger and one plastic upright chair. With a modest investment in furniture and a staff focus on guest service, Gattamora could be a wonderful place to stay.

Charming place but needs some dusting offThe location is marvellous, the building is magnificent both rooms and dining areas. We stayed at the beginning of the season and noted that not all the winter dust had been removed, the garden hadnt had a good shave, the pool was not yet in working order. But... The rooms are comfortable and the food is magnificent. We were lucky to have a chocolate and pear tart at the breakfast buffet, which made the previous mentioned issues non essential. We dined at the masseria and found the food of excellent quality. The wine list is of good quality. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We liked our stay and look back with fondness.
