Excellent facilities very affordableVery friendly staff. It is convenient for the zoo, just walk round the corner and you are there. Great pool, nice bar and restaurant. Stayed in a family room very comfortable. The bar good was lovely and great choice of breakfast food.

Needs a major overall - not great value for money (even on a deal)First and foremost, the COVID measures seem to be well thought out and staff seemed to keep to them very well which was pleasing; lots of Gel stations around and restricted numbers in the pool area. The sauna, steam room and gym (2 x treadmills in a cupboard sized room) were all out of bounds. The appearance of the whole hotel is looking somewhat dated and in need of a lot of TLC - the outside areas are especially bad with rotting sheds in clear view, overgrown sitting areas and external aspects of all buildings looking very unmaintained. The room itself was clean which is always nice but like the rest of the hotel needs modernizing. The biggest disappointment of the visit was the dining experience - the portions at dinner were very small and not very hot when served, certainly not value for money (even on a deal). Breakfast was actually a joke in many ways. I accept there are new ways of working but to wait 20 minutes for a trolley to be presented, with 3 choice of cereals and lukewarm drinks is not satisfactory. To make matter worse the pre-ordered hot breakfast turned up at the same time and the waiter was bemused that we didn't want it just leaving on the table whilst sorting out the cold options!!! The quality of the hot food was poor, cheap sausage (gritty), soft hash brown, spoonful of beans, a rasher of bacon but the worst element of all was the 1/3 of a mushroom on each plate - takes saving money to a new level!!!

Great weekend awayStayed at Marwell Saturday Evening, staff were great and very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very Covid safe. We had a family room which had bunk beds so my daughter was over the moon, room was so cosy and nicely decorated. We had dinner in the restaurant and went for the 7 course taster menu, didnt think we would eat it all but they were cleverly thought out and we have never experienced anything like it, would definitely recommend it. Came for breakfast and were meet by happy staff, service was quick and the food was nice. Looking forward to returning

Very disappointedI reviewed this hotel back in October but it looks like it has been removed. I booked a night at the hotel On 23/9/20 for myself and my girlfriend. Upon arrival we made a reservation in the 2 rosette restaurant and were given a time to eat. We made our way to the restaurant for 8:15pm as ordered, waited to be seated, were told our table wasn't ready and waited while one was hurriedly prepared. We were shown to a poorly laid table with a dirty table cloth, waited 30 minutes for a waiter to offer us a drink and a menu. The menu could only be described as a lazy attempt to avoid any work by the kitchen, 2 starters, 3 main courses, 2 desserts, with the meat option for both starter and main being confit duck leg. No tasting menu was offered, as advertised at the time of booking, although other diners had been offered the choice. The waiting staff were running around like headless chickens attending to the 16 covers in the restaurant, as such the service was less than perfect. Considering the bill came to £85 for two, I was very disappointed. Breakfast was much the same, although the staff were attentive, the juices were watered down and the cooked breakfast was cold. Total bill for the accommodation and food approx. £150. I complained to the manager via email and was offered a 10% refund on the room cost for the night, which equates to approximately £7. I felt this was insulting.

What A Christmas Dinner !!!Due to the virus we would be spending Christmas on our own , so decided to book and have a lovely treat !!! Due to areas being put into different alert levels we phone several times to see if the lunch would be cancelled but was told if we did not pay the balance we would lose our deposit as our area was still ok . On arrival we were the only other car in car park not a good sign ! We were told there was 2sittings and we were the first told to take a seat which we sat for 35 minutes and decided to order a drink . We were then shown our table to be the only ones in the dining room ,several times the young lady ask what we had ordered ! My partner had soup but no roll offered he had more or less finished his soup before it arrived , we had both been looking for ward to our Christmas roast turkey but what came did not taste like turkey and it was covered in a very salty bacon which you could not eat the worst roast we have ever had , we had to wait long time before our next course arrived again the girl check what we had ordered , as if they had a room full of diners . We left before coffee was offered the girl had to sort the bill for our drinks !! Due to the poor atmosphere in the hotel no Christmas music playing, the dinning room was very poorly decorated, the management should have given us a free drink and made us feel welcome on arrival. I feel due to the hard time 2020 has been for hospitality a little more thought should have gone into such a special time of the year and to pay 200 pounds for such a terrible meal and no real welcome, marwell you have customers who will not recommend you !
