  Best villas on the island--best staff--best owners!

  We are owners and have been going to Monarch for over 25 years--we've never missed a year! The oceanfront villas offer a spectacular view and the Sea Pines section of the island is secluded. Restaurants are great and deliver right to your villa. The kitchen is just like home (with even better countertops!). The giant shower in the master bathroom comes with a bench and allows for a wonderfully relaxing experience at the end of a day at the beach. The villa comes with beach towels too so all you need is your bathing suit!

  Everything looks pretty on the outside, but no so on the inside.

  Construction everywhere. We were unable to pull up to the lobby due to construction. Checkin was noisy with multiple voices bouncing around the area. It was impossible to hear the clerk or understand what she was saying. Also construction outside our building with rollbacks filled with used appliances and lift equipment starting early in the morning. Hair and bits of paper littered the bathroom floor. Memo in kitchen explained what they were doing due to the pandemic. Ironically, the memo had been in the unit for weeks or maybe months, therefore, it was covered in stains well used. Sofa, chairs, and mattresses were uncomfortable. When the construction noise started before 8 on Thursday morning, we packed and left. Vacations are suppose to be for rest and relaxation. Monarch at Sea Pines failed on both. The only good thing is that its located on the beach.

  Great trip beautiful Area

  The Monarch seems like a older location. It was going through some renovations when we were there. Beach Access was detoured and one of the pools were closed as well as the drive through near the office. Despite of this (Marriott did warn us of some of the closures) the rooms were nice and large enough for the entire family. The staff was friendly. It was easy to rent a bike or grab some chairs for the beach even with the Covid protocols Marriott did a nice job making you feel comfortable. The surrounding areas to this location is beautiful. All in all this was a nice relaxing trip.

  Major Roof Construction Ongoing

  This older Marriott property is undergoing major roof replacement in January/February. The road in front of the resort is also under construction. Noise and inconvenience is expected during the day. It was a ghost town walking through the property to the point it seemed to be closed but it was open for business. If you want a resort all to yourselves, this is the place to go but expect the noise. We have stayed at several Marriott Vacation Club properties and this one was not up to par with the newer properties. It needs a full facelift.

  Outdated room in a construction site as part of a Marriott vacation club timesharing presentation

  I stayed at this hotel as part of a Marriott vacation club time-sharing presentation. I actually made a reservation to Orlando pre COVID and after COVID erupted canceled my reservation at Orlando and asked for a refund. However, Marriott insisted I cannot get a refund and called almost on a weekly basis to ask me to schedule my 3 nights at one of their locations. Since I traveled on Christmas week, they said this property was the only available one and I booked. I will start with the positive. The location is really nice, with very easy access to the beach. The room is also great for families, including 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen. The location is mostly a construction site, replacing the roofs and renovating the hot tubs. There is a small pool on site and hardly any children activities. For the majority of the time, my kids kept on saying it is boring and there is nothing to do. The room is extremely old. I mostly noted it is the appliances, they are so old, I do not think I have seen something like that, especially the dishwasher. Since it is so bad, it hardly cleans and we received very dirty mugs in the room, I assume due to the hardly functioning dishwasher. In addition, when we came to the room, two of the remote controls had dead batteries, which shows how bad this place is maintained. They have a bike rental, which cost additional money to the stay, so we skipped that option, as we later moved to a different hotel that offered bike rental for free. Overall, an extremely boring stay, which Marriott practically made us take instead of refunding our money. Honestly, I expected Marriott Vacation club to compensate for the horrible experience, instead, they offered us a 4-night package again for $1000, what a joke. I have one thing to say on this stay - got Bonvoyed
