  A SPLENDID STAY IN SYRACUSE!

  What a lovely way to spend the evenings on my short getaway to Syracuse: relaxing in the stunningly beautiful lobby of the Marriott Syracuse Downtown on a comfortable sofa, propped up with pillows and reading a book. All the praise that his gorgeous property has received in other reviews is well-deserved, and the same goes for the people working there, including Abigail and Fernando at the front desk and Darryl at the front door. Some of Syracuses tourist attractions have re-opened, and all but one that I visited over the course of my four night stay are within walking distance of the hotel. I could have kept myself busily occupied visiting those farther away too, but, for me, it was preferable to luxuriate in my surroundings at the hotel instead. At this time, only one of the hotels restaurants has re-opened a sports bar called Shaughnessys Irish Pub. I ate three meals there, and all were very good. I especially enjoyed the shepherds pie. For anyone like myself, working from home and in need of a comfortable break in routine, I highly recommend the Marriott Syracuse Downtown.

  Wonderful is an understatement

  Much can be said about the beauty and cleanliness of this hotel. This was my second stay here, my first was for an FFA convention last year so I was aware of how lovely a hotel this is. What took me by surprise, almost to the point of tears was the absolute kindness, professionalism and willingness to accommodate this very stressed and worried mom. I was in Syracuse during this pandemic because my daughter was having what was supposed to be a one day surgery at university Hospital. I am from Queens county and not familiar with Syracuse. After dropping my daughter off at the hospital early in the morning I had no place to go so I headed over to find out if I could possibly get an early check in for my reserved room. Without hesitation the young man checked me right in with a welcoming smile. When my daughter was not discharged the next morning as originally planned the young lady at the desk extended my check out time so I wasnt left without a place to wait. Later in the day when I found out my daughter would not be discharged for yet another day, the young man from the day before cheerfully and kindly extended my reservation to accommodate another nights stay and afforded me a later check out once again in case my daughters discharge didnt happen prior to 11am. I wish I had these wonderful employees names so they could be acknowledged properly! Everyone I have come in contact with here from the valet, desk services and the young man from the food pick up service were nothing short of wonderful, warm, friendly and a credit to Marriott. They went out of their way to make what was a stressful time for me a bit less worrisome. I am beyond grateful and highly recommend this hotel when anyone visits the Syracuse area.

  Classic Lobby, Motel Room

  The restored lobby is incredible - it transports you back to a time of travel elegance! The hotel has not figured out how to operate during these times. I waited for some time for help with valet parking and no one ever showed up, even when parked right next to the sign for valet parking! I tried calling the desk multiple times - no answer. I was forced to park across the street in some shady parking lot. The room was ok but it did not have desk. This makes things very fun when being forced to eat in one's room as the restaurants only had take out due to the city's restrictions. The Marriott needs to decide to staff properly if they want to be open.

  Praise for Gloria

  We chose to stay at this hotel for a quick overnight during a 24 hour road trip. Upon entry, the lobby is absolutely beautiful. The front desk service was good and he had suggestions for food delivery. When we got to our floor, we noticed the amount of noise coming from the rooms seemed a bit excessive. We went to sleep around 10p.m. and were awoken by a woman screaming from the street (we were eight stories up). The screaming was constant and vulgar. We then heard our next door neighbors start to argue (it sounded like a man and a woman). We could hear everything they were saying - the man told the woman he was going to "bash your f'ing face in" and "kick your f'ing face in." At one point we heard a loud thud. We decided to leave immediately (around 5 a.m.). We alerted the front desk clerk, named Gloria, and she alerted security right away to check on the room. Gloria understood that we hadn't slept at all, and she even comped our room for the night. Gloria was very compassionate and made us feel better that someone was going to check on the residents of the room next door. High praise for Gloria being a good human!

  Accommodating, Clean and Professional

  We stayed here for our vaccines at the Syracuse State Fairgrounds. This is a beautiful and historical hotel. Only 10 minutes to the Fairgrounds. Staff could not have been more professional, accommodating and friendly. Room cost was fair and affordable. The room was clean and spacious. Had drinks and dinner at Shaughnessey's Taven in the Hotel. Great service, drinks and food. We look forward to returning for our second Covid shot in a few weeks. Highly recommended.
