    Remodeled Rooms, Walk to Mall, Need to improve Elevators and Service

    I stayed here one night while in town on business. The room rate was quite high for a Marriott so my expectations were high as well. The hotel property has been recently remodeled so the rooms are very nice - comfortable bed, large desk, plenty of outlets for conveniently charging devices, lovely bathroom. There are a few issues that could be improved: During check in I had to ask about the basic amenities of the property rather than having them explained. The elevators are extremely slow - since I was on 2nd floor it would have been nice if at check in they would have told me where the stairs were located so I could have used them instead. The elevators are quite noisy - my colleague had a hard time sleeping in her room that was close to the elevator - make sure you ask for a room down the hall. My room was quiet. The windows didn't open in my room - seems like the lock was broken so the windows were stuck. The coffee service in the lobby ends at 10am - I was working in my room - came to the lobby at 10:01 and the coffee was still out but there was nothing left in the caraffes. The front desk just shrugged when I asked about coffee. I ended up walking several blocks to the Starbucks at the mall.

    Apathy

    I dont like to say negative things without talking to management first, but when I asked for a manager I was told the MOD was the restaurant manager and he was busy and when I called and asked that the GM call me, no one did. Check in was great. The desk clerk was very gracious and welcoming. There were fresh baked cookies in the lobby. Perfect start to a romantic Valentines getaway. About 5 the noise started. There were Catholic School basketball kids there for a tournament. The yelling and screaming continued until 11. We went to work out and the exercise room was filled with pre-teens. We tried to get to the front desk, but the area was super crowded. I saw an employee and told them about the kids in the exercise room and they said they would see it was taken care of. An hour later we returned to the exercise room and there were more kids and a little girl who was using the elastic ropes to pull herself across the room. There were no adults in sight. When my husband went to the desk the next morning, he was told yes we had a lot of complaints. Three women were working the desk and he told them we had some free time during the day and asked what there was in the area to do, any festivals, anything exciting going on and their response was No Charlotte sleeps on Sunday. We returned to the hotel Sunday night and the rewards lounge person went out of her way to be kind. She even went to the kitchen to find me a special tea. Everything was fine until the next morning when we realized our coffee was not replaced and I got in the shower only to realize that none of amenities had been replaced. Nothing worse than standing in a shower with wet hair and an empty shampoo bottle. When booking groups in a hotel that you know may be loud, you should block those groups together and keep your other guests separate. Also even if your staff doesnt know area events there should be a newspaper or handout for them. The hotel itself was clean and the rooms were comfortable and modern, but with the lack of quality management I would not recommend it.

    Nice staff, nice room

    Very nice, conveniently located, practically new hotel near Southpark. We stayed here when our power at home was knocked out overnight in a winter storm, but I would happily stay here for business travel or vacation. The room was comfortable and spotless and the staff was friendly and helpful. Five stars for sure!

    Only in Town for One night but the hotel was real nIce!

    Nice room, Comfortable Bed(thankfully) Good service. While working in Charlotte I chose the Southpark Marriot. The staff was very accommodating. The room was clean nice and comfortable. Everything I can ask for. Not too much to write as I was in and out. Great none the less. I would stay here again.

    Amazing!!! A+ customer service!

    Trying to find a covid friendly birthday experienced for a 10 year old can be difficult. After doing a lot of research I decided on doing one of the American Girl Everything Pink packages. You can imagine my disappointment when our first room was nothing pink. It was the standard American Girl package. My husband ran down to the front desk. We were moved a few doors down to the correct room. It was so cute and perfect! The staff was great about getting us moved and making sure we had everything we needed. The staff remembered our girl's name and kept telling her happy birthday every time they saw her. There were some mild issues that I don't think are worth lowering the rating over. The first room we were in had a grape stem left over. We mentioned it when we switched rooms. No one is perfect and it was tucked into the back of a chair. The grab and go breakfasts are pretty basic. It's basically cereal or yogurt. It worked fine for us, if you prefer a more substantial breakfast there are other places nearby to get food. My daughter and I struggled to get comfy in the beds. They were too soft for us. If you prefer a firm mattress you may want to consider a different hotel.
