Avoid at all cost , the owner is racist homophobic and violent

We were verbally assaulted and physically threaten. Upon arrival, I was informed by the receptionist that the bungalow I had booked for my friend and I , was occupied, and that the only option left was a studio but that I would probably not like it. We decided to have a look and as she predicted we did not like it. Poor standard, sketchy apartment No mosquito screen, infested of mosquito Extremely hot, the ceiling was very low and one bed was right underneath Not very clean, very old and dirty appliance I told her that I was not satisfied at all and wanted to speak to the owner. She called him and handed me the phone. The owner started right off the bat to be rude and very unpleasant, and was not understanding my disappointment. I explained to him calmly that I booked a bungalow with a certain standard and that the studio was far from being that. The owner insisted that really it was no big deal and that I was getting a better one (bigger place) and then he started to criticize and insult french people and told me that I should go back to France I told him that I did not understand why he was saying all this and he replied I don't understand why you're not happy so I told him the place sucks, and then the owner completely lost it, he insulted me and said that he will beat me badly. When he arrived, he almost hit me, verbally attacked us with racist and homophobic insults and then again physically threaten us and asked us to leave. After 45 MIN I managed to calm him down and decided to stay (no other option around and very late) . The day after he passed by and did not even say hello nor apologize. Very unpleasant experience and unfortunately this is not the first time someone reports physical threat and verbal aggression.

Ying and Yang Experience(Proceed with Caution) - I won't be coming back to Marks Place when I am back in Moorea

I am well travelled global traveller of nearly 15 continuous years on the road working and travelling. I have seen a lot of different accommodations worldwide and this latest experience was definitely my strangest experiences and I would like to share my experience. We did official booking for 7 nights via his website. We booked a specific bungalow, upon arrival Mark said someone else had booked the bungalow we had chosen via another booking platform and that it was not available. We were taken to a smaller/comfortable bungalow, myself and my fiancé are flexible and laid back and stoked to be there so this was not a problem. We settled into the place nicely. After a few days we were told our original choice was now available and we could move in. We proceed to do so and were happy to be situated in our original selection which had a lot of space. During our week stay my fiancé and myself verbally expressed on separate occasions that we would like to book the room for extra two nights if it was available. We were informed it was. 3 days prior to our supposed checkout I had come back from a surf and discussed with Mark and suggested I would like to come pay for our extra nights later that day and he said no worries we can do it anytime, he also said he would give us free night as we were such great customers etc. After this conversation I pretty much assumed that we were good to go and that there would be no problems staying the extra two nights, in fact the extra two nights were for my fiancé, I was leaving on our original departure date due to complications with our outgoing flights she would stay a extra two nights The morning of my departure(our initial booking) I prepared myself to depart and packed up as I would be getting the ferry(alone) and then direct to the airport, myself and my fiancé decided to go for our last lunch together and I had all intentions to settle up for the extra two night for my fiancé after we returned from lunch. When we returned back to Marks Place after lunch we found all our possessions removed from the room and told that we had not confirmed the extra two nights with Mark and that the room was now taken by another booking. We were both GOBSMACKED! We had both discussed this in person with Mark. He said to both off us that this was no problem. So now its mid afternoon with 3 hours to spare before I am meant to catch the ferry and get to the airport and I got to try figure out where to accommodate my fiancé for the extra two nights. This was pretty stressful situation to be in but we managed! Anyways later during the day I checked my phone and saw Mark had contacted me via email earlier that day at 12:00 and then again at 12:35 saying we had to call him to let him know if we were staying the two extra night and then saying he had given the room away and that his place was now full Of course if I had seen this when it was sent I would have responded(I was enjoying lunch and phone packed away) but I felt that the two verbal confirmations earlier in the week had confirmed our intentions for extra two nights. Anyways poor form Mark! I don't think he give a damm about it anyways as he know people mostly going to blow through there once and his place will always have customers. He also returned back to the property whilst we were packing up into the car and did not show his face which was surprising since he was pretty friendly every other time! This action speaks louder than words! Such a pity as you have a pretty epic setup in great location and we really enjoyed our stay until that happened and you came across as friendly and aiming to please and have built a pretty cool setup, anyways I will not recommend your place to any surfers in my networks. Cheers bru and good luck!
