    Comfortable hotel with good views

    The room was spacious and very comfortable. There is no air conditioning, but this could be offset by opening the window to the balcony;this optiion wasn't practical when we stayed because of the extremely loud concert taking place by the waterfront. The bufftet breakfast in the large dining room overlooking the river was excellent.

    Disappointing customer service

    Several months ago, as a birthday present for me, my wife booked and fully paid for a room for 1 night at Maritim Strandhotel Travemünde. The room was booked for this past Saturday. On Thursday my wife was sick and visited the doctor, who told her that she needed to go to the hospital to have possible surgery and issued her with an initial medical certificate for a one week absence from work. We spent Friday at the hospital consulting with a specialist doctor. After visiting the doctor on Thursday, we emailed the hotel to ask if they could please allow us to rather come to their hotel on another day of their choosing, even in low season, when my wife had recovered. After the initial email was ignored, we called and were told to send a second email which was replied to, telling us to call someone else. This persons response was an emphatic no. They stated that if we wanted to book and fully pay for a new stay at their hotel in the future, we were welcome to do so, but they would not allow us to move the booking to any other date or to receive any money back. I find this response in the modern age of customer service simply astounding. Legally, of course this hotel has the right to refuse to be obliging and they have chosen to exercise this right fully. I find their attitude nevertheless incredible for the following reasons. From a business and profit perspective: they will keep our money now for providing us nothing. That is indeed a quite profitable transaction for them. However, if they had allowed us to move the stay to another date, we would have spent easily double that at their restaurant and spa. Thats extra money the hotel will now lose out on. Additionally, theres a good chance we would have returned in the future to the hotel if we had enjoyed our stay, probably recommended the hotel to friends and family, who also may have stayed there, and written a good review with a high rating, promoting the hotel to others. Now we will do the complete opposite of all that and all they have from us is a cash gift and this review with the lowest rating. Doesnt seem like a very good business transaction for either party. The room we booked is surely not booked 365 days a year, so there will be many days now where that room will sit empty. The hotel had nothing to lose, only something to gain by being accommodating and allowing us to move our stay due to unforeseeable illness. This hotel belongs (at least in theory) to the hospitality industry. Hospitality is defined as the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers. Ha, ha, ha, snort, ha. Funny joke.

    Very quiet Christmas weekend

    We stayed here for 2 nights - last Friday to Sunday before Christmas. Before arriving we forwarded a mail and asked for a hard matras, however never received a reply. Two days before arrival we called and was told that all matrasses were identically but requesting a bed board was possible if needed. At arrival Friday we asked for a bed board at reception - it never turned up. Saturday we asked again in reception and finally a bed board came. We have booked buffet in the restaurant for both days - the menu changes every day which is nice. Friday we came to the restaurant 6.30 pm when starting and had a very nice dinner. Saturday we arrived at 8 pm and we felt as we were late - almost no guest and not much food either. Afterwards we went to their pub and also here we were the only people to enjoy a beer. Indoor swimming pool and saunas are great as are the view. We paid a total of Eur 490 all inclusive.

    Shame on the hotel Maritim Travemunde, that drives you out !!!

    Our vacation in Cuba ended urgently due to coronavirus. We had to fly from Havana to Berlin and take the train to the city of Travemunde, from which the ferry leaves to Liepaja. In the city of Travemunde we were at 21:00 in the evening and did not know about the closure of hotels. We needed to spend the night 2 nights before the ferry departed. We came to this hotel, as in the building the light in many rooms was on. The hotel looked working and guests lived in it. Hoping that they would let us in and give us a number, we turned to the security guard on the first floor, as the main entrance was closed. The guard in a very rude form kicked us out, saying that we foreigners clean the street !!!! We were shocked by this attitude !!! How is this even possible in the 21st century in the center of Europe ?? !! ??! You are kicked out at night at an air temperature of minus 3 degrees. We came from a hot country and were easily dressed !! My wife cried a lot and we were just stressed. The management of this hotel must keep in mind that guests should not be subjected to such humiliation, even if they do not live in your hotel !! I will post this review on all the cool Russian tourist portals and information sites in Russia, so that tourists know how they can be met at this hotel !!

    Negative review already before arriving, hope the hotel doesnt let us down

    I called yesterday and wanted to make a booking for sauna and fitness etc. The receptionist told me that I should call Spa and make a reservation in advance due to the situation of corona. I was told that 6 persons are allowed in the sauna at one time. We can book as many times as we want as long as its still available. My boyfriend and me just wanted to have double appointments so that we can do 3 times sauna within two hours. So i called spa this afternoon, a lady told we we can book double hour at one time so here we are. I asked her if its gonna be like 8-9, 9-10 oclock etc? She said yes to me. Then i requested about 16-18. Suddenly she told me 1630 to 1830. I was so confused actually but i was so happy to have the appointment done. We have also make a booking of an usage of fitness area. We wanted to swim as well. But she told me we dont have to book for swimming. At the end we have made three day appointments. Due to fully booked massage service, we have to find somewhere else for massage. And we got an appointment at 17h on Friday, so i have to call the hotel up and change the appointment. The time another lady. She couldnt find our bookings, none of them, no sport no sauna... surprisingly she tole me we can go to the fitness area whenever we like. But we have to book for swimming. Everything completely the opposite from the other employee. I feel really confused anyway. And the employee before, told me that we have to pay 5 per person per day. If we book three days means 30. Now here we go, the second colleague told me that we are not allowed to book double hour, only one hour per person is allowed. All the miss leading informations even though we booked the room for the weekend, sauna and swimming isnt included also fine. Now we pay but no double hour? I have been to several wellness hotel, if we book the room those services are usually included. Dont understand why we have to pay everything extra. As said...we update my review after our stay.
