Based on reviews, was expecting better.Firstly Cala Ratjada is a very likeable place, compact enough to stroll around plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Good selection of shops and a good saturday market as well. The two local beaches are lovely BUT absolutely packed solid in July and August, I have just returned and was hoping to get a relatively quiet week relaxing on the beach, thinking that the kids hadn't broke up from school yet, WRONG! English kids haven't but it seems that German and Spanish kids break up for summer earlier. The resort is completely geared up for German holiday makers, which to my mind was actually a good thing, no loud loutish behaviour, english breakfast joints and the usual rubbish that follows where English tourists go. As for the Hotel Marbel, it is at one end of the main through road, up a side street, where it is mostly resedential. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the nearest beach, which is the smaller of the two local beaches. As a single traveller I have to say I was very dissapointed with my room. It was the smallest room I have ever stayed in, the bed was very hard, so much so that I had trouble sleeping, which for me is a first. The air-con seemed to need a key to unlock it which I was never given, there is a ceiling fan and luckily it wasn't that hot whilst I was there to be a big problem. I enquired after my first night about white bed sheets, as I had slept with just an empty duvet cover over me the first night. This turned out to be the norm as I was never given any more bed linen, the pillows are thin, gutless bolster types which were horrible. The decor was, old fashioned spanish pine, nothing stylish or modern. The bathroom was tiny, the ceramic shower basin had a large crack. Every room has a balcony, although mine looked out onto the back of the next door building, no attractive sea view here. Having said all this, it was all spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was good, eat as much as you like. There is a bar, which apart from the evening was hardly ever manned. You had to go a find someone who was working elsewhere to ask for a drink, which was a bit of a bore and I always felt I was interrupting what they were doing. So to sum up, nice resort, good location, good breakfast, friendly staff but (for a single traveller) tiny box rooms with old fashioned decor and horrible beds. Overpriced for what you get as well, I've stayed in nicer, cheaper back-packer hostels. Having said that your experience if you are a couple may be better than mine was. I'll definately return to Cala Ratjada in June or September, but will only stay at the Hotel Marbel as a last resort.

Buget hotelThe hotel is average and we found everything clean enough,we had breakfast and evening meal in our Hotel price and found the breakfast to be just about to our taste as long as you can live on cereals ,fried eggs ,baked beans and toast all the rest was cold meats but the evening meals were the big let down as it was mainly cold food and if there was any hot food stuff it was warm at best ,on the last night the first bite of my diced warmish potato made me scrap it all into the rubbish bin, other people from the UK said they thought the food was bad perhaps its more to the Europeans taste. The hotel buisness card said it did different bookings like bed breakfast to all inclusive so take my advice go for breakfast only or even room only if they will do that,Apart from the food everything else is ok but as we went over Xmax theres a lot of closed for the winter bars and cafes. There was free WIFI but it could only be used in the reception area.

El peor hotel al que he idoEste hotel es absolutamente lamentable. 100/habitación, el wifi no llega a la habitación, la tv no funciona, el aire acondicionado está roto, no tiene ascensor. Eviten venite aquí porque es un auténtico timo.
