Great locationThe Mantra city central is in an excellent location, close to trams, bars, restaurants, shopping and more. I've always stayed at this hotel and I highly recommended it, my only problem this time around was a) the mattresses feel really old and were very uncomfortable to sleep in, and b) I stayed in one of those two story rooms but the lighting was awful due to only being able to have those incandescent whitebulbs and lastly c) My room's view was towards the alley were all the pigeons decided to gather so it was quite noisy, I did not have the greatest of sleep. Otherwise everything is great.

First hotel Ive ever left upon arrivalWe booked a loft room and had been eyeing off this hotel for over a year as one we would like to try. Unfortunately upon checking in the room was not at all what was advertised. The loft rooms look as if the living and bedroom space were all in one however the bed is upstairs in an open style loft. This would have been great for us because I could have relaxed on the bed (5mo pregnant!) whilst my husband watched tv and we could still talk etc. upon check in, we were allocated a room (510) which were 2 completely seperate floors with small awkward stairs between the two. This difference completely changes the dynamic of the space. Additionally - the loft rooms look bright with natural light, the room we had was extremely dark and looked out into a wall. I wonder if this was even a loft room because there wasnt really anything similar about the spaces. A loft and a seperate floor are not the same thing? Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked so we could not be moved - and after finding make up stains on the unused (by us) hand towel, the bath being small and grotty, The couch being so sunken your legs hit the actual structural part of the couch making it too uncomfortable to sit on, and the whole place having a dark/dirty feel to it, we requested that we be able to cancel the booking with no penalty. At first we were told we could leave but wouldnt be refunded, luckily we pointed out we hadnt paid! Then it was said thats fine, in that case we will keep your $100 deposit, luckily, no one had ever taken that from us either - so we were allowed to leave without charge. All in all - I would like to thank the staff. the gentleman we dealt with was only in his 2nd week and he was SO helpful and I really do appreciate the service he provided. We would have loved to stay, but at 5 months pregnant planning to spend the night in the room while my husband attends a show - I just did not feel at all like I would enjoy the time in the room. Had we both been going out, I would have been less bothered - but we shouldnt have to feel like not spending time in the hotel is the only thing that makes it okay! We are now sitting in a hotel 500 metres away, same price, considerably cleaner and much more comfortable!! Will definitely remember to check trip advisor before booking next time because I can see similar reviews. Again, thank you to the staff we spoke to - they were a great reflection on the mantra brand which I have stayed at many times across many different locations and normally love and enjoy :)

Character hotel in good location - 2 bed aptStayed here for a combination of business and personal for 2 nights Location - great location nearby shops, eateries and some businesses Facilities - apartment hotel so need to go 'outside' for most things; my room had a rooftop terrace Room - stayed in 2 bed loft apartment; good size for 1-2 adults sharing; but the 2nd room has a stacked single bed so ok for 1 child but would be cramped for more Bathroom - small but clean Dining - none in-house but you can order in Service - eager to please and friendly Would I stay again? Yes

Great central HotelGreat hotel in the middle of the city. Excellent service from front office staff. They were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was dated. However, it was kept very clean and tidy. Parking was at an under cover public car-park about 100 metres away so it was not an issue and cost $30 per night. The only issue was there was no washing machine/dryer. Everything else was spot on.

Great location, great place to stayWe spent the weekend in Melbourne and the Mantra City Central was the perfect place to call home for a couple of dats, it was conveniently located in the heart of the CBD, near Bourke Street Mall, and the apartment had a very homely feel. It would be a great place to stay if visiting for a longer period and is great for a larger group or family providing a bit of extra space then a standard hotel room.
