  Stayed in Jan with our kids in a 2 bed superior unit Very underwhelming, the apartment lists a whole bunch of inclusions like kettle toaster etc but they are literally the cheapest you can find , never mind the broken ironing board (petty I know) Bathroom was sort of cleaned before we checked in. As for the pool, dont expect to use it. Its open so anyone in Nelson Bay can walk it and make use of the facilities. They have signs up in the lift only allowing 2 at a time but please fit as many as possible into the spa at the same time. There absolutely no supervision around the pool or covid distancing. We paid for a hotel that had a pool and are unable to use it as its that full. When I approached the reception about this issue, she was very sarcastic and seemed to think this was fine. Wont be staying at Mantra again.

  Relaxing

  Another comfortable visit to the mantra. Our 6 nights were quiet , room was clean, pool was inviting, staff friendly. You cant beat this location. So close to the main town centre including woolies, restaurants etc. secure parking. Highly recommend.

  Not value for money

  The pool is extremely busy in summer - it was so packed that it was almost impossible to find a little patch of water to swim in. This was disappointing, as we were particularly excited for the large pool. The rooms are very big and spacious, doesnt have a nice beach feel, however very modern. The location is close to town, although a bit of a walk to beaches. Not really value for money.

  Dirty, Mouldy rooms, small AC, wont be back

  Booked a 3 bedroom resort view apartment for the New-year period (as we have stayed here before) Check in was good and staff were lovely. Then headed to the room (room 50) The place was terribly dirty, very smelly and on closer inspection, we found heavy mould on all the inside windows and tracks. There was heavy dust on the TV, the sliding doors were filthy and looked like they haven't been cleaned for ages, there were cob-webs on the roof and on all windows (both inside and out) There were dirty marks on the table, the unit accommodates 6 people, but there were only 5 chairs inside and on the balcony (they did bring another chair while we were waiting in the room to be sorted) The AC unit stunk and was also very dirty and dusty. The room was very basic and looks nothing like the photos provided (rooms are individually owned and Mantra manage them, hence why the furniture and contents differ in all rooms) I actually took photos to post (which I have ever only done once) at I couldn't believe they were renting rooms in this condition) On top of that, the bedding configuration wasn't what was asked for (when the office emailed the week earlier to ask- not a big deal, but why ask if your not going to accommodate?) After heading down to reception to complain, the cleaning lady came up, fixed the bedding, took a look at the windows and said she would bring the maintenance bloke in. He turned up with a small cloth and spray, took a look at it and left. I advised that I was not going to stay in the room as it was a health hazard. The ladies in the office were able to swap things around and we were able to get another room (not the resort view that was booked, but Leanne, the manager did provide a small refund for the room difference and a bottle of wine for our troubles which was nice) The new room (95) was in better condition but the small AC unit wasn't able to cool the whole apartment and it was terribly hot in the bedrooms (fans were provided in all 3 bedrooms) No BBQ's allowed (must use their ones near the pool) but that's a bit hard when it raining (we had rain most days) Pool area was crowed on most visits. The location is good as its a short walk to the marina and Woolworths is close. Although the staff were lovely, Unfortunately, the place hasn't been well maintained and we definitely will not be back.

  Disappointing

  Stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom superior apartment. We were in apartment 1 which was located right above the car park and entrance to the building. Positives for this resort are the staff were always lovely and very helpful if we needed anything The pool and spa were great and the best part of this hotel The location is really good and its only a few minutes walk to lots of shops and restaurants and probably a 5 minute walk to the water Negatives The elevator was broken for 2 out of 3 days of our visit. We had a baby in a pram with us and had to carry her up and down an emergency exit stairwell on multiple occasions which was very unsafe The superior apartments werent that superior in my opinion- extremely dated furniture, dirty marks all over the bathroom cupboards, dirty grout in bathroom etc Wouldnt recommend anyone with a baby to stay in apartment 1- due to it being right over the car park it was very noisy and you could hear people talking and beeping horns late into the night every night which would wake our baby up Overall this place needs a bit of TLC
