  Forced to provided front and back photos of my credit card.

  The day before my stay and just after the cancellation period had expired, I received an email from Sandy Bottoms advising if I miss check in, then I MUST provide front and back photos of my credit card and licence or forego my stay and lose the pre-paid accommodation which was paid 6 weeks in advance. Unfortunately I missed the 1730 check-in and after a phone call with the Manager was forced to make the above decision. I chose to provide the photos as I didnt want to lose the pre-paid accommodation. Out of all of the places that I have stayed all over the world, some dodgy and some fancy. Never before have I had to send a complete stranger photos of both the front and back of my credit card and licence. The Manager I was talking to said it was because of stolen and fraudulent credit cards. Sounds to me like the Manager might be running their own credit card or identify theft scam by forcing people to send photos of important information or lose their pre-paid accommodation. Good location, the room was ok, clean, the only shower on my floor (shared bathroom) was out of action my whole stay. Wouldnt recommend due to the bad customer service received from the Manager. My credit card has since been cancelled.

  Unpleasant when the weather is ht

  Needing to change my previous 5 star review in January 2020 of Sandy Bottoms. While the place is very clean and in a great location, it is unbearable in the heat. As I loved my stay so much in January, we returned in February to stay nearby for a friends wedding. (I needed to let 3 months lapse since my last review). The day temperatures were around 29- 30 deg, but I estimate our room heated up to 40 deg or more and didn't cool down much in the night. Our room was set against the brick wall of the guest house that is exposed to all day sun and it heats up like a radiator. It was like sleeping with the radiator on full. There was no air flow and everyone on our floor seemed awake most of the night, laying on their bed with their doors open. I'm usually pretty tolerant of heat and no air con, but this guest house really does need air con. It is still great in the cooler weather though.

  If you want to keep your money and not get ripped off DO NOT STAY HERE

  We booked this accommodation prior to covid, for a competition at manly. The competition did of course because of the pandemic- but Sandy Bottoms would not answer our multiple calls, emails, mail POSTS in regards to a pure inquiry of can we swap dates? Or if possible could we get a refund or credit? So that was the start of our heartbreaking stay. After we decided lets just go for a holiday as we cant get money back, Jane, a very mean lady told me over the phone that we could not use one bunk mattress or we had to pay more (bizarre) and also needed to pay an extra $55 to stay. Weird about the bed, but the money we just thought okay this is silly but well pay. I HAD to take a photo of my ID and credit card which they demanded front and back. Then, they took out over $250!!! Fraudulently. And would not pick up their phone or give this money back until I suggested legal action. They gave me back $30? A total rip off. Please dont stay here the management is terrible and so un-Australian. Especially Jane. The stay was average, dirty/sandy sheets though and sooo much rubbish and dust under the bed and on all the shelves and window sills. Id reconsider your stay here xxx

  DO NOT STAY HERE

  For a start they lie about parking its 2-4 hours. The manager Louisa is incredibly rude and argues with you. They left my pregnant wife to stand outside soaking wet and cold in the rain and refused to even let her in the lobby. They say this is for security but surely anyone with some humanity would allow her just to sit somewhere out of the rain. She had our puppy with her so couldnt go to cafe's or the servo next door. Absolutely appalling service. There reviews on google have been getting worse and still Louisa argues with people. Do yourself a favour stay somewhere else and avoid the stress.

  Pregnant and left in the cold and rain due to arriving 20 minutes early

  I arrived 20 minutes early to check in to a locked door. I called and was told im too early to check in and that the room will still be being cleaned. I asked if I can wait inside due to the rain, being very wet cold and pregnant. I wad told I would have to send a text through with id etc. My husband had already done this at 10am. A lady eventually answered the door. I was sobbing, wet, crying and trying not to vomit. I asked if I could wait inside and explained that I was pregnant. I was told it was against policy and they shut the door and left me in the rain. Eventually a man let me in. I explained do have bad morning sickness and asked for a bin twice. The question was completely ignored. It's the worst and most shocking and disgusting service I have EVER KNOWN. Even before a of that my husband asked if there was parking. We was told there is lots of on street parking. When I arrived the spots were 2-4 hours only. I called to ask were I could park. They laughed and said there is lots of parking its just 2-4hours. Which isn't helpful when you are staying over night! I was directed to a car park over 5kms away. In the rain, with  dog, when I am pregnant. If I get sick, if anything happens to my baby I will hold the owner personally responsible.
