Awful place with an awful, rude manager. Avoid this property at all costs!

We had booked to stay in this resort for 1 week in a one bedroom apartment with our 2 teenage daughters. The resort is in a very isolated location and difficult to find even with a SatNav. On arrival we could see that the resort looked shabby and in a state of disrepair. I went into the reception area and was told that the apartments had been flooded due to rain and we had been moved to a double room with complimentary breakfast to compensate for the inconvenience. We asked to see the room which they had put bunk beds into to accomodate all four of us. It was not suitable for our requirements as it made the room very cramped and our daughters are 19 and 16 which we consider too old to be sharing a room with their parents. Also it meant that we had no self catering facilities apart from the mini bar fridge. The girl that we dealt with was very empathetic and understanding and tried very hard to please us. We asked if there was any possibility of 2 rooms and she said there would be. Enter the manager...possibly the rudest person I have ever met in my life. He was not prepared to offer us 2 rooms and thought that a double room for 4 of us was accceptable, he barked at me that check in time was 3pm, Expedia paperwork stated 2pm and I had only gone in at 1.30pm to ask what time it would be possible to check in as most hotels will allow you to check in early if rooms are ready. It was the receptionist that told me that the room was ready and we could check in straight away. The situation deteriorated quite quickly due to the disgusting attitude of the manager. He even told me that it was my fault as I had booked for 2 adults, 1 child and an infant. I don't understand how this changed the situation anyway and made it my fault? I explained that I had booked for 3 adults and 1 child but he continued to argue until I sent my husband to get my paperwork and he said he had it in writing, then realised he had made a mistake and was thinking of someone else's booking...still no apology! After a phonecall to Expedia we were told that they had managed to find an apartment, when we were shown to it, it wasn't ready or clean so they asked us to come back in an hour which we did without question. The apartment was disgusting with tatty old furniture and poor kitchen equipment, 3 glasses for 4 people and mismatched chipped mugs. The air conditioning didn't work properly. The balcony was dirty with 2 children's folding deck chairs, when we asked if there was patio furniture we were told that that was it! When we returned, the lovely receptionist had left and I asked the manger if the room was ready. The key was almost thrown at me across the desk and he made no apology for the inconvenience or even made eye contact with me. I told him that his treatment of us was very unfair as none of this situation had been our fault and up to this point we had been very understanding, at this point the situation became very uncomfortable and the manager became very aggressive and rude. Whilst trying to resolve the situation he told me 'talking to you is very boring, I would be happy for you to not stay here'! he told us that people like us do this to receive a refund! I don't understand why he thought that we would drive all the way to Italy from the UK in peak season to be refunded with nowhere else to stay? We went to the apartment where I burst into tears and called Expedia who couldn't have been more helpful. They secured us a full refund and booked us into another resort 'Residence Panorama La Forca' in Tignale which was fantastic and a world away from the horrendous situation that we found ourselves in at Manerba Del Garda Resort. We were told by another member of staff (who was also lovely and apologised repeatedly for the manager's behaviour) that they had worked in many hotels but in the 3 months that he worked there he had never experienced anything like it! When my husband asked 'so we're not the first to experience this situation?' the staff member laughed and and said 'no!' I cannot even begin to describe how awful this situation was and how upsetting it was for myself and my family, had the manager not have refused us 2 rooms and been as empathetic as his staff we would have accepted the situation (although not ideal) without question. Not a good start to our holiday. It was 7pm by the time we left this property and we had an hour's drive to our new accomodation so a whole day had been wasted. We are well travelled and have never experienced anything like this and hope to never again. We certainly had a lucky escape! The manager at this resort is in desperate need of some customer service training. Do yourself a favour and take your hard earned cash elsewhere and avoid this property at all costs!!

Found a gem near Lake Garda!

We managed to book three rooms here about two hours before we arrived when on a European road trip. We didn't expect much after paying around 60 per apartment, but how wrong we were. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very modern reception area and friendly receptionist, who quickly confirmed our details and showed us to our apartments. It got even better... everything was brand new and spotless! We quickly got changed into our swimming costumes and headed down to the pool... or pools should I say, two large pools which happened to be completely unoccupied since it was early in the season.. we felt like VIP's! For dinner, we headed to a nearby restaurant (5 minutes walk) which was truly excellent, and we even got 10% off for being guests of the resort! After a great nights' sleep, we packed our stuff and headed into the main building for breakfast which cost us an extra 6 each. Everything you could want in a continental breakfast was available, and the friendly waitress was there to fix the coffee machine when one of our party managed to break it (!). We had a fantastic short stopover at Manerba del Garda resort, you won't be disappointed!

    Fantastic stay!

What a very nice friendly place to stay. We had a brilliant week at this hotel. Staff are friendly, the rooms and facilities are clean and good. Lovely pools. Table tennis - need to bring your own. Close to the lake. Had a wonderful two days hiring bikes and cycling round the lake. Would definitely come here again. The resort is not to busy - bed and breakfast was on offer and lovely continental style buffet we ate far to much.

    The White Bar

The White Bar was just accross from where we got off the ferry. It was a busy little bar & the girl who served us was very friendly. We were given a menu as soon as we sat down, but there was a slight delay in taking our order as it was so busy. This was no problem to us as we were enjoying the view, when it came to taking our order we got an apology straight away for the delay. The food was very nice & well worth the wait. The service was good & efficient.
