  Waste of money

  Very basic motel. No cutlery and plates , only after we asked for it. We stayed 3 nights, room was not cleaned once, nor were beds made or towels changed. On Saturday night the music in the motels restaurant was so loud it kept us awake till very late, even our room was 100 meters away. Basin in bathroom was broken. Wifi very patchy and slow. Staff was friendly, view over the lake nice. Dining options in Manapouri are very limited, basic and too expensive. Consider staying in the vibrant town of Te Anau.

  Slightly tired accommodations

  The view was beautiful and the manager was very pleasant, but the unit had no toaster and microwave, which was available in all the other 10+ places we stayed while touring the South Island. The WiFi was spotty, but we were in a unit on the end away from reception. I enjoyed the availability of a book exchange and the restaurant was good. The walking trail across the road was very convenient and a lovely walk along the lake.

  Still Quiet and laid back

  We had the house for a family group. Lot sof space. Magnificent views out over the lake. Friendly staff who helped with queries. Pretty of things to do within a walk of the motel. Check in was easy anfd quick

  Awful hotel

  Stayed overnight In Manapouri before the Doubtful Sound overnight Cruise. Very disappointed with standard of the property run down and leaseholders have no clue how to run the hotel. Very expensive for backpacker standard. $179 No breakfast available and went to local cafe doingva good trade. Spoke to other guests we met on cruise had stayed there who also felt the same opinion. Do not recommend to stay in Manapouri dead as a Dodo and Te Anau only 30 minutes away with much more choice of accommodation and restaurants

  Heres my terrible review

  If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would. On December 31 we were given a room with a very bad, musty smell that refused to be cleared with some airing out. The room was unclean and had stains on the walls that could have been food, mud or blood. The room seemed to have been unused for quite a while given the dead insects on the hand basin, the thin layer of dirt on many surfaces and the cobwebs attached to the window when I opened it. As one does, I didnt complain, at first. But after dinner out and the prospect of spending 2 dayds there, I did. The proprietress gave me a cold stare, a pretend smile and a bit of an argument. She told me that if we hadn't booked directly there was nothing she could do. In the end she passed me on to her partner/husband (I presume) because she clearly deemed me to be too dificult. He graciously offerred another room. The second one was somewhat OK. At least it smelled better and didnt have the layer of dirt. But we still spent the 2 days with the dead bugs and cobwebs. At $140 a night, this room was highway robbery. I highly recommend that you stay anywhere else.
