Get "immersed" in the Japanese ryokan experience here!

My family came here to explore a quieter part of Japan and were blown away by the entire experience. If you've never been to a ryokan and enjoyed the onsen experience, you must seek it out! The staff here could not have been more friendly, attentive, and willing to work through the language barrier with us. What an amazing place! They have two full onsen baths, alternate each day between mens and womens, and also a series of small but comfy family onsens that you can reserve (no extra charge). Our little cottage had lovely tatami mats, traditional wood/paper doors and all of the extras you would want to immerse yourself in traditional Japanese lodging. Perhaps the BEST part was the food--each meal meticulously prepared, of the highest quality, with a variety of dishes from which to choose, all served patiently and beautifully--both dinner and breakfast were a feast for the eyes and tastebuds. I can't say enough about how welcoming everyone at this lovely ryokan was! P.S. I've seen other comments that it is located away from town--yes it is, but it's maybe a 10-12 minute walk and worth it!!

    Yufin Fun

Stayed for one night. Rooms were spacious, clean and very authentic. Dinner and breakfast provided a visual and tasty experience. Food was well prepared and artfully presented. Had some of best beef I ever ate during dinner. Hot springs very relaxing and spacious. Separate men and women natural hot spring pools plus Family spas. Fun and comfortable walking around grounds with robes, happi coats and flip flops! A little expensive but well worth it at least once while in Japan.

    Onsen Hotel

This hotel is approximately 10mins walking distance from the train station which is reasonably walkable. The dinner is very nice particularly Sashimi - very fresh and yummy. Staff there is very friendly and polite making you welcome and warm. The public onsen is spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend the private onsen as well and only cost 1000 yen for 1 hours. I think it's well worth it. Only one minor negative comment I could think of is the room interior decoration quite dull, probably due to house exterior stunning

    Day onsen

Our experience at this onsen was marred by the grumpy receptionist. He was unfriendly and unhelpful. The family hut is really just a hut but well contained. Too bad about the bad attitude. Wouldn't visit this place again!

    Beautiful setting

We wanted an authentic Japanese experience and stayed her for part of the rugby world cup. We were not disappointed, The accommodation was certainly authentic Japanese and the staff very friendly and helpful. The spas were great for relaxing in and chilling out. Yufuin is a very pretty place with good eateries and is great for sightseeing. The railway station is only a 15 minute walk from the accommodation and provides great links.
