Superb hotel in a noisy neighbourhoodThis is an adorable hotel in the heart of Marseille. The staff were all really lovely. We had a warm greeting at check in and this remained throughout the entire 5-night stay. The staff are young and super friendly, and the place has a relaxed, informal yet professional feel. Breakfast was relatively limited in choice (eggs, bacon, bread, cheese, ham, pastries, fruit, yoghurt) but uniformly delicious, with the eggs and bacon cooked to order. The coffee and juice were wonderful! The aircon in the room was amazing and much needed as the temperatures during the day were in the high 30s. The bed was really comfy and our room was lovely with high ceilings and a balcony overlooking the square and the city. Be aware that this is a very noisy neighbourhood. There is a rowdy bar just down the street and we could hear music and revellers on some of our nights beyond 1am, then the sanitation truck made a sweep at around 4am each night, which always woke us up. It didn't spoil our sleep as the bed and aircon were just so comfortable, and central Marseille is never going to be a quite place. Do be aware though that if you want quiet you might want to request a room off the main square. Room cleaning was good but not brilliant though we had a different maid on our penultimate day and there was a noticeable improvement in cleaning and replacement of coffee sachets, towels etc for our final night. We would definitely stay again. Merci!

Our brief but very nice stay. This is a wonderful place and staff was very hospitable. We missed the continental breakfast and the hotel manager credited our card graciously. I would be happy to stay here again and get to know Marseille better. Perhaps my son will come back before I do. He spends a semester abroad with his art college classmates in Lacoste France.

Great location but noisy areaWe stayed 5 nights at the Saint Louis. The hotel is conveniently located in between two tram lines and a short walk to the port. The rooms are moderately furnished and small with very little storage space. There was only an armoire in the room. The elevator to the rooms is very small so if you have two people with two pieces of large luggage you will need to make two trips. Check-in and the restaurant staff were excellent. We had purchased the breakfast package and it was very good. Housekeeping was hit-and-miss. Some days we only had one bath towel and one hand towel, another day only two bath towels. Instant coffee and tea was only re-stocked twice in our five day stay. Floors are swept but don't seem to be washed. My feet were black after walking bare foot in the room. The area is very noisy, music and crowd noise outside went on past 1 AM. Sirens could be heard all night. I would stay here again, but only for one or two nights.

Great location near the old portWe had a nice large room with a view toward the old port. The room was basic and minimal, but had all we needed. There was a couch and table and chairs in addition to the king-sized bed. The staff spoke English and were very pleasant and helpful. Its in a great location, easy walk to the old port and everything surrounding it. A delicious seafood restaurant, Toinou, is right next door. The adjacent cafe serves a good breakfast. We would definitely stay here again
