Dissapointing...Charles Kuralt who stayed and wrote about the hotel 40 some years ago would be saddened...

We stayed here because this was where Charles Kuralt of "Charles Kuralt's America" and CBC Sunday Morning" stayed and loved. Well...that was 40 years ago. The staff were GREAT but their hands were tied as the owner was a son of a cigarette magnet and he has "given" this project to his girlfriend who really does not care about the hotel AT ALL! Decorative storm blinds were hanging askew and the staff fixed it by propping it up with chair...and stayed that way as we were there...The room was dirty....the bed kept breaking and our mattress kept falling to the floor...sad...sad...Great location...run down as know one cares other than the struggling staff who, per them, do not get the O.K. to fix anything!

    Disappointed

When we arrived the front door was held open for us by an old piece of wood. There is no longer hotel staff and we got our room key out of a lock box. The bottom floor has been left in the middle of a reno project; no furniture, wires hanging from the walls and a vacuum in the corner...but we never saw anyone working. Our room was not what we expected, superficially clean, but dirt and dust bunnies under the furniture and in the corners, a used bar of soap on the ledge above the shower and stuff (hair pin, clothing tag) in the dresser drawer. The curtains were hanging haphazard from the sagging curtain rod and one of the blackout curtains had large sun rotted holes. The court yard was tired and the fountain was full with green sludge. It must have been lovely at one time, but its been a while. However, I must say that the linens were crisp and clean, the bed was moderately comfortable and the shower was great.

Not worth it, spend your money elsewhere

Don't book this hotel, This is a classic bait and switch. I booked this hotel due to location. A couple days before our trip we were notified the hotel could not host us due to a plumbing issue. They offered us another sonder hotel (not in desired location). We said no and got our money back and booked elsewhere. When we got to New Orleans We walked by the hotel looked in the window and looked like it has been under renovations inside for months. We asked a few locals and apparently it hasn't been open for a while now. Assuming they are only talking reservations at this hotel to get you into their other locations.

    Horrible hotel

There is no TV, no concierge, no safe, no on site service of any type. We waited 12 hours for a handyman to address items in the room. The room had not been swept or mopped and the floor was sticky. I do not recommend. Location was ideal, but that can be found with any of twenty hotels in NOLA.

    Thanksgiving in NOLA

This room is fantastically located to all the activities in the Quarter. The decor and room itself was perfect. It would have gotten 5 stars except there were a few things that could be improved. Check in process was easy and convenient with one exception, there were no signs directing where from the entryway our room was located. Doesnt sound like a big deal but these properties in the quarter can be like mazes and we had to search around and through the court yard to find our room. Bathroom shower needed a curtain or something. It was all open and rather small so everything in the bathroom got wet while showering including the toilet, the toilet paper, and worst of all was the floor. And the floor took all day to dry so it was kind of inconvenient. The last two minor issues we had were we were only given two towels. More towels would have helped especially since we had to keep mopping the bathroom floor with one due to the problem described above. And lastly it would have been nice to have access to a broom. After 3 days of in and out, the beautiful wood floor needed a good sweeping and we couldnt so again we had to use a damp towel. Oh yeah a coffee pot would have been a nice addition too. Overall this property did not disappoint. It was perfectly located, the bed was super comfy, and had a lot of that French quarter charm. We would definitely stay again.
