  Great location

  Went with 2 friends hotel was clean good position for exploring city excellent choice for breakfast. Triple room was large enough for the 3 of us bathroom very roomy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would go back to this hotel on next visit to Antwerp

  Very close to everything

  But - I really missed an open bar. When I ordered a beer the staff became a bit confused and suggested that I could go to the bar next door. If you visit this hotel as a new couple- don't stay at room 6. The toilet is very open. No door and no upper wall. So you really have to know each other.

  Good and bad in equal proportions

  Right next to the cathedral, slap bang in the old center, wonderful ambiance. But once inside (the entrance goes via the Hotel Postiljon) it gets dodgy,. Reception is friendly and explain the combination of 2 establishments : Maison is the more luxurious part. Which means only that there's tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom door is plastic foldaway without a handle... The shower is great but splashes all over the place. It looks like a rather old and tired place. But the lady insists on frying me an omelet when I explain about my allergies. So breakfast,though it is not great, was great anyway. I thought it a tad expensive for the quality but the service was priceless

  Great stay, great location

  Maison dAnvers is in the centre of the historical area of Antwerp, next to the Cathedral and within short walking distance of many attractions such as the Grote Markt, Vleeshius, het Steen along the river Schelde, the Kloosterstraat , Rubens House, many others including the Meir for shopping. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, especially the reception. Breakfast was excellent, buffet style and was included in the price. Our room was comfortable and clean. All in all a very enjoyable short break, definitely recommend.

  So Close to Great

  The Maison d'Anvers is a 1-star hotel which means the amenities you expect to be there may not be there (contrary to popular belief the star ratings in Europe are not an endorsement of the hotel, only a description of what they have on site). Do not let this deter you from the Maison d'Anvers. The only thing the hotel lacks is a lift/elevator. And, surprisingly, there was a small refrigerator in the room (they need to be regraded because of this). The Maison d'Anvers could not be closer to the cathedral and the square. It is run by a lovely woman, her mom, and a phenomenal Dogue de Bordeaux named Olaf. If only the sheets had a few less holes and all the lights in my room worked I would give it a '4'.
