VacationWe are a family of 6 and did not get the room we requested but staff were accommodating to bring a trundle bed. The room was gross. The toilet seat was peeling, there was hair on the shower, and the general appearance was dirty. Luckily we only had to stay a night. No one slept well. The beds are uncomfortable and the springs from the pullout and trundle were popping through the thin mattress. I am overall massively disappointed since the hotel has a 3 1/2 star rating. However the rating was on the choice hotel which makes me think theyve boosted their own rating.

Our cargo trailer was stolen! We stayed at the Mainstay from July through December, while house hunting. Our cargo trailer was parked in the back lot the entire time with everything we own in it. On December 29th we were at the front desk around 6pm dealing with a billing issue at the same time our trailer was being stolen. This happened right after the staff learned we had found a house. When we found the trailer missing the front desk person did not call the police or manager but did call the daytime front desk worker. We called the police, the hotel did not make the surveillance video available to the police until the next afternoon. The management would not post our flyer offering a reward for the return of our stolen property and has made no effort to make this right. They just want this to go away, and they actually said that to my daughter. I am a disabled vet, mother of 2. All my pictures of my military service, my girls baby pictures and pictures of my parents who have passed on, were in that trailer. Everything my family could cobble together after a house fire. It is my strong belief and personal opinion that the staff of the Mainstay was involved in the theft. Please beware of this hotel. Also there were no exterior signs disclaiming responsibility for items in the parking lot, but no reimbursement for our loss has ever been offered.

Great customer service, but facilities are bad-we left 30 minutes after check-inWe got a first floor room with no view, the windows faced the indoor pool area which was closed. Pool being closed not a big deal, we were not planning to use it anyway because of the covid-19, but no view was a big deal because this made the room dark. Lighting was awful, the room was very dark and there was a very strong humidity smell. Bathroom look outdated and old. The only good thing was the kitchen, everything looked new on it, also the room is big, still the pictures are very deceiving. We were very excited about staying in this hotel, it was very disappointing for our family. In summary the hotel its out dated, strong humidity smell, didn't feel safe in there, common areas didn't look clean. If you are going to Williamsburg, VA on a family trip, this is not the right place to stay.

Dirty and gross. Do not stay here. Old, filthy hotel.Overall this hotel was pretty disgusting. The pictures on the ads for this hotel are deceptive. The air conditioner was not working correctly in the first room that we were assigned which was very dark. The manager "upgraded" us to a bigger room with an additional bed. We thought this was nice, but the second room had very dirty furniture and floors. The kitchen floor was so sticky with grime that our shoes stuck to it and made a sound when we walked on it. I have included a photo of the visible grime. I had clorox cleaning wipes and tried to sanitize surfaces the best that I could. The beds were actually clean and the mattresses were comfortable. I called and asked the front desk person if someone could come mop the kitchen floor. She said she would take care of it, but no one did. The outer stairs were nasty, and people were leaving beer bottles on them. In addition to the filthy floor, the advertised stocked kitchen was false for our room. Pool and breakfast were closed July 2020. There was a large roach on the shower curtain (see photo of the dead roach) early in the morning. I would never want to stay here again. This stay put a damper on the joy of our vacation. We were not comfortable here at all. We were extremely disappointed.
