  Excellence made to look so easy

  We have just returned from our 7th visit to this wonderful hotel, this time we stayed for 10 days. The attention to detail at this lovely hotel never ceases to amaze me and it seems to reach new heights every year we return. The food is still superb, the rooms clean and extremely comfortable Many of the staff at this seasonal hotel return year after year and it shows, they really are a joy, there are a few new faces this year and I must mention Marc the Bar man who makes cocktails to die for! If you plan to ski in Obergurgl and want a comfortable homely friendly hotel I really can't recommend the Madeleine highly enough. Around 80% of the guests are returnee's which must say something! Will we be going back? You bet we have already booked for 2021 A big thank you to Michael Gstrein the owner, Jelka, Tibor and the whole team for making another visit to Obergurgl very special. We look forward to our next visit.....

  Marvellous Madeline!

  This was our first visit to the Madeline and we booked late through Crystal so hadn't done much research of places to stay. What a good choice! This is a typical Austrian hotel but is smaller than some in Obergurgl so has a more family/homely feel. The rooms are excellent and look newly refurbished, plenty of storage for ski gear, bathrobes provided (and slippers available if you ask at reception), spotless bathroom with very powerful shower (as usual with Austrian hotels there is no tea & coffee facilities in the rooms). The food was superb - 5 course fine dining meals every night plus a good spread at breakfast and in the afternoons for apres ski snacks. All the staff were excellent but special mention to Marc the barman, Christian and Tereza. Good location approx 5 mins walk to the lift or 2 minutes walk to the bus stop to get the free bus to Hochgurgl or Solden.

  Good choice!

  Best food in Austrias ski-hotels, ever. Very clean and well kept Hotel, would definitely go again! Nice sauna area, almost like here in Finland:) Near the slopes and lifts also, so it was easy to go to the slopes. Friendly staff, so our week was very pleasant and nice.

  Exceptional service and fabulous food!

  Beautiful hotel for a luxury yet relaxed family skiing holiday. Great location, Conveniently close to ski lifts, which were only a couple of minutes walk away! Very comfortable bedrooms and immaculate and stylish decor throughout. Small but Lovely spa area. Exceptional service from all members of staff who went out of their way to make our holiday perfect. Must give a special mention to Tereza who was so attentive and nothing seemed any trouble. Also Marc the hotel barman who gave us a warm welcome and fantastic service again. Finally the food....simply divine, so much to choose from daily, only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy everything on the menu! Would highly recommend.

  Fabulous holiday at Hotel Madeleine

  Only just got around to writing this review, although the area has been shut down for some few weeks now because of the coronavirus. Having researched hotels in the area, the Hotel Madeleine kept coming up tops in reviews. There are some larger and grander looking hotels in the area but this one delivers on the key things that are important to us. The staff are super friendly and efficient, the whole hotel is wonderfully clean and inviting, the food is amazing. A short walk from the ski lifts for the area or even shorter to the bus station if going to Solden, easily doable in ski boots. A cosy, welcoming bar with the effervescent Marc dazzling you with his cocktails or teasing you with his weekly music quiz. Absolutely some of the best food we have had anywhere in Austria served by truly lovely staff. Rooms that are kept wonderfully clean. A great wellness centre and relaxation room for those after ski sauna's and giving the legs a well deserved rest. I would highly recommend this hotel.
